This phase III trial studies how well trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) and tucatinib work in preventing breast cancer from coming back (relapsing) in patients with high risk, HER2 positive breast cancer. T-DM1 is a monoclonal antibody, called trastuzumab, linked to a chemotherapy drug, called DM1. Trastuzumab is a form of targeted therapy because it attaches to specific molecules (receptors) on the surface of cancer cells, known as HER2 receptors, and delivers DM1 to kill them. Tucatinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving T-DM1 and tucatinib may work better in preventing breast cancer from relapsing in patients with HER2 positive breast cancer compared to T-DM1 alone. Read Less

This phase II/III trial studies the best dose of duloxetine and how well it works in preventing pain, tingling, and numbness (peripheral neuropathy) caused by treatment with oxaliplatin in patients with stage II-III colorectal cancer. Duloxetine increases the amount of certain chemicals in the brain that help relieve depression and pain. Giving duloxetine in patients undergoing treatment with oxaliplatin for colorectal cancer may help prevent peripheral neuropathy. Read Less

The investigators are trying to learn more about the personal perceptions and experiences regarding the needs of patients with liver cancer to help improve the care of all patients. The investigators would like to know whether there are needs that patients have or are aware of, especially those needs that the investigators have not been able to address. The investigators aim to develop a program that helps participants and participant's families to navigate the process of being diagnosed with liver cancer and receiving treatment. Read Less

This is a Phase 1b/2, open-label, parallel-arms pilot study in post-menopausal women with hormone receptor positive (HR+), HER2- advanced or metastatic breast cancer with an alteration in the PI3K pathway, including a mutation of the PIK3CA gene, PTEN loss, or AKT1 mutation, designed to determine the safety of evexomostat (SDX-7320) plus standard of care treatment alpelisib (BYL-719) or capivasertib and fulvestrant (each combined, the 'triplet therapy'), to measure the severity and number of hyperglycemic events, and to assess clinical, anti-tumor benefit of the triplet therapy. The purpose of this study is: to characterize the safety of the triplet drug combination consisting of either alpelisib or capivasertib (per the treating oncologist's choice) and fulvestrant plus evexomostat, to test whether evexomostat, when given in combination with either alpelisib or capivasertib and fulvestrant will reduce the number and severity of hyperglycemic events and/or reduce the number or dose of anti-diabetic medications needed to control the hyperglycemia for metabolically normal patients and those deemed at risk for capivasertib and alpelisib-induced hyperglycemia (insulin resistance, as measured by HOMA-IR, baseline elevated HbA1c or well-controlled type 2 diabetes), and to assess preliminary anti-tumor efficacy for each combination and changes in key biomarkers and quality of life in this patient population. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of plixorafenib in participants with locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors, or recurrent or progressive primary central nervous system (CNS) tumors harboring BRAF fusions, or in participants with recurrent high-grade glioma (HGG) harboring BRAF V600E mutation. This phase III trial compares minimally invasive surgery (MIS) to laparotomy in treating patients with stage IIIC-IV ovarian, primary peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancer who are receiving chemotherapy before and after surgery (neoadjuvant chemotherapy). MIS is a surgical procedure that uses small incision(s) and is intended to produce minimal blood loss and pain for the patient. Laparotomy is a surgical procedure which allows the doctors to remove some or all of the tumor and check if the disease has spread to other organs in the body. MIS may work the same or better than standard laparotomy after chemotherapy in prolonging the return of the disease and/or improving quality of life after surgery. Read Less

This is a one year study to develop and test a culturally-tailored, web-based cognitive behavioral stress management (CBSM) intervention for Latino sexual minority men living with both HIV and cancer. Sexual minority Latino men living with HIV and cancer experience a variety of health disparities related to their diagnoses, including higher distress. The project will be a pilot randomized trial, comparing culturally-tailored CBSM to standard CBSM for dually-diagnosed participants. The project will use a community-based participatory research approach, and the investigators have included (and will continue to include) LGBT-serving community partners in all phases of the research from study design to implementation and dissemination of findings. The proposed study will aid in attenuating health disparities among Latino sexual minority men living with HIV and cancer. Read Less

Compared to IMRT, PBRT is thought to give less radiation exposure to the surrounding healthy tissues. It is possible that side effect rates with PBRT will be lower or the same compared to IMRT, but this has not been well studied to date. Although both of these radiation therapies have been used in the past to treat head and neck cancer, this research study will compare the effects of these two different radiation treatment modalities with each other to see whether PBRT is better, the same or worse than IMRT.
