PRevention Of Methamphetamine Use Among Postpartum Women Trial (PROMPT)
Recruiting
The PRevention Of Methamphetamine Use among Postpartum Women Trial (PROMPT) is randomized controlled trial of postpartum individuals with methamphetamine use disorder to 12 weeks of 200 mg oral micronized progesterone twice daily or placebo. The aims of this study are to assess the feasibility, safety and preliminary efficacy of micronized progesterone for the prevention of return to methamphetamine use. A secondary aim is to assess participant's salivary levels of allopregnanolone with methamph... Read More

Assessing Changes in Myocardial Tissue and Blood in Patients With Advanced Heart Disease
Recruiting
Hypothesis: Tissue and serum samples collected from end-stage heart failure patients receiving left ventricular assist device implantation (LVAD) or heart transplantation will provide information regarding the basic science of heart disease. Tissue and serum samples collected from a limited numbers of "healthy controls" (donor grafts that were not utilized for heart transplantation) will serve as a comparator in research database projects. Design: This is a registry project; there are no inve... Read More

Undergraduate Skin Cancer Prevention Trial
Recruiting
The proposed study is a Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST) that uses factorial experiments to evaluate individual and combined effects of intervention components to improve intervention efficiency. The study team anticipates enrolling a total of 528 undergraduate students (>18 years) into the trial to identify intervention approaches that eliminate sunburn, and secondarily to motivate sun protection and discourage tanning. The study team will test personalized risk components: 1) UV Photo,... Read More

Improving Health Insurance Literacy Among Utah's Hispanic Population
Recruiting
This is a test of an existing health insurance education program (HIEP) in the Utah Hispanic community (aged 18-64). The study will evaluate whether the HIEP delivered by Utah Health Policy Project (UHPP) staff improves participants' health insurance and cost-related literacy. Participants will complete a brief baseline survey, be guided through the HIEP by UHPP staff, and complete a brief survey/interview after completing the sessions.

Liver Transplantation in Patients With CirrHosis and Severe Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure: iNdications and outComEs
Recruiting
Management of ACLF is mainly supportive. The poor outcomes lead physicians to consider liver transplantation as an option, even if controversial. In sicker recipients, LT results in immediate survival, but poor medium-term survival rates in some studies. The scarcity of deceased donors obliges to maximize LT success. Alternative strategies, as living-donor LT, should be explored. LDLT has impressive results in Eastern centers, but it is restrained in Western countries, due to potential life-thre... Read More

Macular Pigment Measurements in Eye & Other Tissues
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to understand the role of nutrition and its effects on the eye and other tissues. The investigators propose to study this by validating and correlating various non-invasive measurement methods of carotenoid concentrations in the human eye and skin tissue. A secondary objective is to correlate blood levels of carotenoids on a sub-set of participants.

Stroke Rehabilitation, Functional Recovery, and Cost-effectiveness
Recruiting
The investigators will determine the client and non-client variables associated with discharge to an inpatient rehabilitation facility vs. skilled nursing facility in individuals' post-stroke. The investigators will determine how these variables are associated with short-term (discharge from facility) and long-term (6-months post-stroke) function and quality of life.

SWOG S1827 (MAVERICK) Testing Whether the Use of Brain Scans Alone Instead of Brain Scans Plus Preventive Brain Radiation Affects Lifespan in Patients With Small Cell Lung Cancer
Recruiting
This phase III trial studies magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) surveillance and prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) to see how well they work compared to MRI surveillance alone in treating patients with small cell lung cancer. MRI scans are used to monitor the possible spread of the cancer with an MRI machine over time. PCI is radiation therapy that is delivered to the brain in hopes of preventing spread of cancer into the brain. The use of brain MRI alone may reduce side effects of receiving... Read More
