By joining this study, participants, including patients and their caregivers, will be provided useful information about colon cancer that may help alleviate anxiety surrounding treatment, improve communications with the medical team, and identify practical ways to support each other. Participating in this study will have no impact on your cancer care that participants receive from your provider. It is expected that the resources provided to participants and participants caregiver will help improve participants overall care. The study team will provide computer tablets for patients and their caregivers to use as part of the study to access information about colon cancer and how to help manage participants therapeutic care. The study team will check-in each week to provide assistance with the use of the tablets and ask the patient and their caregiver, to complete an assessment survey. As part of the surveys the study team will collect participants full name, address and phone number and some basic information about participants (e.g., age, gender and race). The study team will also collect some personal or medical information, including the stage of colon cancer and treatment received (if the participant) or your relationship to the patient if participants caregiver. The study team will also collect some information on your emotional health and views about the medical care that has been provided to date from the questionnaire. All this information will be held confidential and not forwarded to anyone outside of the study personnel. There are no activities required, except that the study team will encourage caregivers and patients to discuss and use the information provided in computer tablets to enhance their cancer care. Whether or not the participants use this information will not affect their ability to receive high-quality care from their providers. There is a slight burden of responding to the survey questions used to help us understand the useful features of this program. For this reason, the investigator has included small incentives to support the time and effort needed to complete these survey assessments. The study team hopes that this study, one of the first of its kind, will help identify the resources and methods that can be used to help patients and caregivers have a better understanding of their cancer care and provide resources that they can use to enhance the effectiveness of their therapy. This study investigates if circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and other tumor-related molecules/chemicals released in the blood can help doctors predict if colorectal cancer may come back or spread. Tumors shed DNA and other cancer related chemicals into the blood that can be identified and studied further to provide information about the cancer. Information gathered from this study may help researchers better understand if ctDNA found in the blood can predict whether colorectal cancer may come back or spread. Read Less

This study is designed to help patients with type 2 diabetes and their clinicians: (a) identify which glucose lowering medications have the most favorable effects on heart health and other patient-important outcomes, (b) inform the timing of medication initiation, and (c) identify whether medication benefits apply equally to all adults with type 2 diabetes, or may be different based on age, sex, race/ethnicity, baseline heart health status, baseline renal function, or other factors. Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFPEF) is common and deadly but without therapy. Inconclusive studies such as TOPCAT (Treatment of Preserved Cardiac Function Heart Failure With an Aldosterone Antagonist) suggest spironolactone may be effective in HFPEF, but it is generic and will not be studied by industry. SPIRRIT is a unique Registry-Randomized Clinical Trial (RRCT) that will test the hypothesis that spironolactone plus standard of care compared to standard of care alone reduces the composite of CV mortality and HF hospitalization as follows: Population: HFPEF patients in the Swedish Heart Failure Registry and HFPEF patients in US. HFPEF defined as symptoms/signs of HF, elevated NTproBNP (B-type Natriuretic Peptide; N-terminal pro b-type Natriuretic Peptide) and EF\>=40%. Intervention and control: Randomized 1:1 to intervention: spironolactone + usual care vs. control: usual care alone. Outcome: Primary outcome cardiovascular death or time to HF hospitalization. Secondary outcomes include hospitalization for various causes, adverse events and treatment adherence. In Sweden outcomes are obtained automatically by linking with the Population, Patient and Drug Dispensed Registries. In the US, outcomes will be reported by sites and supplemented by data from a call center. The trial is event-driven with enrollment 7 years and study duration 9 years. For the primary outcome (CV Death or first HF hospitalization) with an event target of 721 events the sample size requires 1985 patients conservatively rounded to approximately 2000 patients. ABBV-RGX-314 (also known as RGX-314) is being developed as a novel one-time gene therapy for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD). Wet AMD is characterized by loss of vision due to new, leaky blood vessel formation in the retina. Wet AMD is a significant cause of vision loss in the United States, Europe and Japan, with up to 2 million people living with wet AMD in these geographies alone. Current anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapies have significantly changed the landscape for treatment of wet AMD, becoming the standard of care due to their ability to prevent progression of vision loss in the majority of patients. These therapies, however, require life-long intraocular injections, typically repeated every four to 12 weeks in frequency, to maintain efficacy. Due to the burden of treatment, patients often experience a decline in vision with reduced frequency of treatment over time. This project aims to investigate if the contraceptive method, Phexxi, causes changes to the composition of the vaginal microbiome. The investigators hypothesize that regular use of Phexxi will cause increased colonization of lactic acid-producing lactobacilli, which could have positive effects in the way of preventing recurrent episodes of BV and candida infections. Difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) will be used in an open label, single agent, multicenter, study for patients with neuroblastoma in remission. In this study subjects will receive 730 Days of oral difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) at a dose of 750 mg/m2 ± 250 mg/m2 BID (strata 1, 2, 3, and 4) OR 2500 mg/m2 BID (stratum 1B) on each day of study. This study will focus on the use of DFMO in high risk neuroblastoma patients that are in remission as a strategy to prevent recurrence. Read Less
