The investigators' previous research has shown that children exposed to media characters with guns in movies and video games are more likely to use real guns themselves (e.g., touch them, hold them, pull the trigger). This research tests whether exposure to a gun safety video a week before the study can help counteract dangerous behavior around guns. Read Less

The goal of the study is to understand how best to help parents of young children with sickle cell disease and their clinicians have a shared discussion about hydroxyurea (one that takes into account medical evidence and parent values and preferences). The study will compare two methods to help clinicians facilitate this-a clinician pocket guide and a clinician hydroxyurea shared decision making toolkit-in a group of parents of children ages 0-5 with sickle cell disease. The investigators hope that both methods lead to parents reaching a high-quality, well-informed decision. In addition, the team hopes to demonstrate that parents who experience a shared decision will have lower anxiety and decisional uncertainty. The researchers also expect these parents to be more likely to choose hydroxyurea and that their children will have less pain, fewer hospitalizations, better developmental outcomes, and higher quality of life. The primary objective of the Phase 1 part of the study is to determine the recommended dose of APVO436 administered intravenously to patients with AML or MDS. The primary objective of the Phase 1b part of the study is to evaluate the clinical activity of APVO436 in patients with AML or MDS. APVO436 is being studied in this Phase 1b, open-label, multi-center, two-part dose-escalation/dose expansion study to evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD), and clinical activity of APVO436 in patients with AML and MDS. The study will be conducted in 2 parts. The first part of this Phase 1B study is an open-label, multiple dose ascending dose escalation phase to determine the recommended dose (RP2D) level of APVO436 for future Phase 2 studies. The goal of the dose expansion phase of the study (Part 2) is to (i) evaluate the safety and tolerability of APVO436 at the RP2D level when it is used as an adjunct to the standard of care and (ii) obtain a preliminary assessment of the anti-leukemia activity of APVO436-containing experimental monotherapy and combination therapy modalities. Study Objectives for Dose Escalation Phase Primary Objectives are to: Determine the RP2D level of APVO436 administered intravenously (IV) in patients with AML or MDS, and Evaluate the safety and tolerability of APVO436 at the RP2D level when it is used as an adjunct to the standard of care and obtain a preliminary assessment of the anti-leukemia activity of APVO436-containing experimental monotherapy and combination therapy modalities. Secondary Objectives are to: Define the safety profile and immunogenicity of APVO436; to determine the PK/PD of APVO436; to evaluate the clinical activity of APVO436 in AML and MDS patients. Further evaluate the safety profile and immunogenicity of APVO436 and the PK/PD of APVO436 and the relationship between PK/PD and clinical response. The Retaining Employment and Talent after Injury/Illness Network (RETAIN) demonstration is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) to improve employment outcomes for individuals who experience injuries or illnesses that put them at risk of exiting the labor force and relying on disability programs and other public supports in the long term. RETAIN projects include a combination of medical provider services, stay-at-work/return-to-work (SAW/RTW) coordination services, and other SAW/RTW services. This evaluation will focus on the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services' implementation of "Ohio RETAIN." The evaluation will document how the project is implemented, describe enrollees, estimate the project's impacts on enrollees' outcomes, and assess whether the benefits outweigh the costs. Read Less

The purpose of this study is to describe a patient's wellness before and after chemotherapy treatment. The MyDRUG study is a type of Precision Medicine trial to treat patients with drugs targeted to affect specific genes that are mutated as part of the disease. Mutations in genes can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and cancer. Patients with a greater than 25% mutation to any of the following genes; CDKN2C, FGFR3, KRAS, NRAS, BRAF V600E, IDH2 or T(11;14) can be enrolled to one of the treatment arms. These arms have treatments specifically directed to the mutated genes. Patients that do not have a greater than 25% mutation to the genes listed can be enrolled to a non-actionable treatment arm. The genetic sequencing of the patient's tumor is required via enrollment to the MMRF002 study: Clinical-grade Molecular Profiling of Patients with Multiple Myeloma and Related Plasma Cell Malignancies. Obstructive sleep apnea is a chronic condition that has serious health consequences including increased risk of hypertension, type-2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and reduced life expectancy. This study proposes to use behavioral reinforcement and support to increase adherence to oral appliance therapy for obstructive sleep apnea. The control group in the study will receive routine care. In addition, their oral appliance wear time will be monitored using a sensor built into the appliance. Routine care includes an initial 1-hr consult, then delivery of the oral appliance (with sensor) and follow-up appointments at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. The second, experimental group will receive adherence promotion techniques in addition to routine care. These adherence promotion techniques can be categorized into 6 methods. 1- spouse/partner included in a patient counseling session. 2- Educational brochure delivery at follow up appointments. 3- Electronic reminder/communication system established by patient and provider. 4-Follow up communication between primary care physician and orthodontist. 5-Celebratory certificate for good adherence with the oral appliance evaluated at 3 month, and 6 month visits. 6-Gift card delivery, $25, when patient schedules a follow up with sleep physician. Patients will be followed for within the research protocol for 6 months. There are no additional risks involved with the research and the anticipated benefit is to develop methods to increase adherence to treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. To address the unmet need of optimizing the treatment and management for adolescent suicidality, the investigators propose to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of telehealth services compared to inpatient and OCIC for suicidal adolescents in target population. To achieve this goal, the investigators propose a multi- site study to compare telehealth, OCIC, and inpatient care, and see which can lead to a lower risk of a suicidal event (primary outcome) as well as higher treatment satisfaction (TS) and satisfaction with life (SL) (secondary outcomes) of both the legal guardians/parents and patients. This study gathers information on patients at different stages of chronic pancreatitis to better understand the natural course and risk factors associated with pancreatitis. Chronic pancreatitis is a disease that occurs when the pancreas is inflamed (swollen and irritated) all of the time. It is important for doctors to diagnose chronic pancreatitis in the beginning stages of the disease. Over time, as chronic pancreatitis gets worse, the pancreas may stop working correctly. Since treatment options for advanced (end-stage) chronic pancreatitis are limited, patients with early-stage chronic pancreatitis or those at high risk of developing chronic pancreatitis are ideally suited for interventions to prevent the development of end-stage chronic pancreatitis and its associated complications. Information from this study may help researchers to develop lab tests for early diagnosis and prediction of disease progression, to understand disease mechanisms, and to discover genetic factors affecting susceptibility and progression.
