Does Nerve Block + Oral Dexamethasone Reduce Recurrence of Headache Within 72 Hrs?

For some patients who come to the emergency department for treatment of a migraine headache, peripheral headache nerve blocks (PHNB) have proven to be an efficient and effective treatment for headache relief. Previous studies have demonstrated that adding steroids as an adjunct treatment to standard migraine treatment can reduce recurrence of headaches in the subsequent few days.

The purpose of this pilot efficacy study is to examine the effects of EMG-biofeedback (EMG-BF) on pain-related outcomes in Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) patients, Recent mastectomy and lumpectomy patients, and patients with episodic migraine.

The study is designed as a multicenter, double-blind, randomized, sham-controlled trial to assess the safety and effectiveness of the Nocira AVPI Device for the acute treatment of migraine. The study is conducted in two phases in two study groups:

Effects of a Multispecies Probiotic on Migraine

The prevalence of migraine is higher in female patients with various intestinal diseases. An explanation could be that migraine is caused by a leaky gut, defined by increased intestinal permeability that permits particles to pass through the gastrointestinal wall. Probiotics, may be able to improve intestinal barrier function.
OBJECTIVE: To test whether probiotics, as adjucnt therapy, can reduce incidence and severity of migraine attacks by reducing intestinal permeability.

Determining the Utility of a Behavioral Intervention in Chronic Migraine

This proposal will involve a pilot study to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and outcomes of a lifestyle behavior protocol in managing chronic migraine. Additionally, the proposal will investigate biomolecules that are uniquely involved in chronic migraine patients who respond to the protocol. Successful completion of this proposal will inform the design of a future full-scale behavioral clinical trial to control chronic migraine.
