The state of Florida currently has 46 active clinical trials seeking participants for Parkinson's Disease research studies. These trials are conducted in various cities, including Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville and Orlando.
Deep Brain Stimulation of the Cuneiform Nucleus for Levodopa-resistant Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease
Recruiting
The purpose of this research study is to determine if DBS is a safe and effective therapy for severe freezing of gait in patients with Parkinson's Disease. Freezing of gait (FOG) is a particularly debilitating motor deficit seen in a subset of patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD).

PPMI Clinical - Establishing a Deeply Phenotyped PD Cohort
Recruiting
The Parkinson Progression Marker Initiative (PPMI) is a longitudinal, observational, multi-center natural history study to assess progression of clinical features, digital outcomes, and imaging, biologic and genetic markers of Parkinson's disease (PD) progression in study participants with manifest PD, prodromal PD, and healthy controls. The overall goal of PPMI is to identify markers of disease progression for use in clinical trials of therapies to reduce progression of PD disability.

Automated Imaging Differentiation of Parkinsonism
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to test the performance of the AID-P across 21 sites in the Parkinson Study Group. Each site will perform imaging, clinical scales, diagnosis, and will upload the data to the web-based software tool. The clinical diagnosis will be blinded to the diagnostic algorithm and the imaging diagnosis will be compared to the movement disorders trained neurologist diagnosis.

Lenrispodun as Adjunctive Therapy in the Treatment of Patients With Motor Fluctuations Due to Parkinson's Disease
Recruiting
This is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, fixed-dose study in patients with a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease consistent with the UK Parkinson's Disease Society (UKPDS) Brain Bank diagnostic criteria, who are experiencing wearing off symptoms and levodopa-induced dyskinesia.

Apraxia in Parkinson's Disease Patients With Deep Brain Stimulation
Recruiting
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the subthalamic nucleus or globus pallidus internus can improve motor symptoms Parkinson's disease (PD). However, it is not known whether DBS can help reduce the signs and symptoms of the limb-kinetic, ideomotor or ideational apraxia associated with PD or if apraxia can exist as a stimulation induced side effect from DBS therapy. In this study, we look to conduct a pilot study to examine the feasibility of characterizing the prevalence of apraxia in PD patients wi... Read More

Pilot Intervention With Near Infrared Stimulation
Recruiting
The current study will test whether age-related cognitive and mood changes in older adults and those with Parkinson disease will be affected by near infrared (NIR) stimulation. The overall hypothesis, drawn from previous literature, is that exposure to NIR stimulation will have positive effects on brain health and will result in better cognitive and mood performance.
