Parkinson's Disease Paid Clinical Trials in Florida

The goal of this feasibility study and clinical trial is to learn if an evidenced-based breathwork and meditation intervention (SKY Breath) will improve the mental and physical well-being of individuals with Parkinson's Disease (iPD) in stages 1, 2, and 3, under the age of 75 and their care partners. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Objective 1: Can the SKY Breath practice be designed and implemented to specifically cater to the unique needs of individuals with Parkinson's Disease and their care partners. * Objective 2: Will the SKY Breath practice decrease stress levels (a contributor to increasing PD symptoms) for individuals with Parkinson\'s Disease (iPD) and their care partners as measured through self-reported surveys to improve overall well-being and quality of life. * Objective 3: Will the SKY Breath practice in part alleviate the emotional stress and physical burden experienced by care partners of PD patients, promoting their resilience and well-being. Participants will be asked to learn the SKY Breath and Meditation practice over the course of 4 days (2.25 hours each morning), practice SKY every day for 4 weeks and keep a log of time spent doing SKY. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurological condition, which affects the brain. PD gets worse over time, but how quickly it progresses varies a lot from person to person. Some symptoms of PD are tremors, stiffness, and slowness of movement. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how effective ABBV-951 is in treating adult participants with advanced PD in real world setting. ABBV-951 (foslevodopa/foscarbidopa) is an approved drug for the treatment of Parkinson's Disease. The main ROSSINI study will have approximately 450 adult participants with PD (300 participants new to ABBV-951, up to 150 participants transitioning from open-label extension study) will be enrolled across approximately 60 sites. Decision to treat with ABBV-951 (or continue the treatment in Cohort B) will be made by the doctor prior to any decision to approach the participant to participate in this study. There will be a sub-study that will enroll 40 naïve participants who initiated Foslevodopa/Foscarbidopa treatment for the first time (Cohort A of the ROSSINI parent study only) from 6 to 15 centers in the United States, Germany and Spain. All participants will receive subcutaneous infusion of ABBV-951 for approximately 3 years. Participants will attend regular clinic visits during the course of the study. This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter study in participants with Parkinson's disease (PD) with motor fluctuations. Participants will be randomized to receive once-daily oral doses of either 75 milligrams (mg) CVN424, 150 mg CVN424, or a matching placebo for 12 weeks. This project will focus on improving power in adults with Parkinson's disease, since power is related to performance of daily activities and memory and decision making. The study will compare traditional power training, where the participant does all exercises as fast as possible to top set resistance training, where the participant does power training, but it is preceded by warm-up sets that progress in weight until the participant reaches 90% of the person's maximum strength. If the top set method is better than traditional power training, it could be more beneficial than existing methods in improving independence in adults with Parkinson's disease. Read Less

This study is a Phase 3 multi-site, randomized, evaluator-masked, study of endurance treadmill exercise on changes in the Movement Disorder Society-Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) Part III score at 12 months among persons with early stage Parkinson disease. 370 participants will be randomly assigned to 2 groups: 1)60-65% HRmax or 2)80-85% HRmax 4 times per week. The primary objective is to test whether the progression of the signs of Parkinson's disease is attenuated at 12 months in among persons who have not initiated medication for Parkinson Disease (PD) when they perform high-intensity endurance treadmill exercise. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the subthalamic nucleus or globus pallidus internus can improve motor symptoms Parkinson's disease (PD). However, it is not known whether DBS can help reduce the signs and symptoms of the limb-kinetic, ideomotor or ideational apraxia associated with PD or if apraxia can exist as a stimulation induced side effect from DBS therapy. Essential tremor (ET) is among the most common movement disorders, and is the most prevalent tremor disorder. It is a progressive, degenerative brain disorder that results in increasingly debilitating tremor, and afflicts an estimated 7 million people in the US (2.2% of the population) and estimates from population studies worldwide range from 0.4% to 6.3%. ET is directly linked to progressive functional impairment, social embarrassment, and even depression. Intention (kinetic) tremor of the arms occurs in approximately half of ET patients, and is typically a slow tremor (\~5-10Hz) that occurs at the end of a purposeful movement, and is insidiously progressive over many years. Based on direct and indirect neurophysiological studies, it has been suggested that a pathological synchronous oscillation in a neuronal network involving the ventral intermediate nucleus (Vim) of the thalamus, the premotor (PM), primary motor (M1) cortices, and the cerebellum, may result in the production of ET. In spite of the numerous therapeutic modalities available, 65% of those suffering from upper limb tremor report serious difficulties during their daily lives. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has emerged as an effective treatment option for those suffering from medically refractory ET. The accepted target for ET DBS therapy is the Vim thalamus. Vim projects to PM, M1, and supplementary motor areas (SMA) and receives afferents from the ipsilateral cerebellum. Moreover, electrophysiological recordings from Vim during stereotactic surgery have identified "tremor cells" that synchronously discharge with oscillatory muscle activity during tremor. Clinical and computational findings indicate that DBS suppresses tremor by masking these "burst driver" inputs to the thalamus. The overall goal is to investigate the neural signatures of tremor generation in the thalamocortical network by recording data during DBS implantation surgery. Investigators will record data from the macroelectrode implanted in the Vim for DBS therapy, and through an additional 6-contact subdural cortical strip that will be placed on the hand motor cortical area temporarily through the same burr hole opened for the implantation of the DBS electrode.
