This project is designed to test a brief therapy to reduce suicidal ideation among a diverse sample of youths ages 12 to 17 who experience anxiety or depression. The goal of the study is to conduct a clinical trial testing whether this therapy reduces suicidal ideation and related beliefs that one is a burden on others. This project will contribute to the field by potentially showing evidence supportive of a brief strategy to reduce suicidal ideation in a way that can be readily understood and used by mental health providers in the community. A population of approximately 50 pediatric subjects will be enrolled to assess the PK of spinosad and benzyl alcohol for 3 hours following a single, full-body topical application (open label) on a single in-clinic visit (Day 1, or Day 2 if screening only on Day 1). There will be approximately 50 subjects ages 1 month to 3 years 11 months of age enrolled with the goal of completing approximately 16 subjects. With assistance from a caregiver, Natroba will be applied over the entire body from the neck down to the toes (including the soles of the feet) and to the hairline, temples, forehead and possibly the scalp (if a scabies infestation is present on the scalp). The open-label Investigational Product (IP) will remain on the skin for at least 6 hours before removing the IP by gentle washing. The subjects will stay in the clinic until the 3-hour procedures are completed. Blood draws will be taken at 0 hours just prior to treatment, and then at 0.5 and 3.0 hours post-treatment. Heel sticks are likely to be the mode of blood collection for children less than 2 years of age. A ±5-minute time window will be allowed for all post-treatment blood samples. Removal of IP can occur by the caregiver at home after it has been on the skin for at least 6 hours before bathing the child. Safety will be assessed with adverse events (AEs), general skin and eye irritation assessments, and pre-dose and pre-discharge laboratory evaluations. Following the sample collections subjects will be released from the clinic and directed to their primary care physician for follow-up. Subjects will be provided scabies medications upon discharge to dispense to family members. These include 5% Permethrin for those in the household that are less than 4 years of age and Natroba for those in the household 4 years of age and older. The NICHD Neonatal Research Network's Follow-Up study is a multi-center cohort in which surviving extremely low birth-weight infants born in participating network centers receive neurodevelopmental, neurosensory and functional assessments at 22-26 months corrected age (Infants born prior to July 1, 2012 were seen at 18-22 months corrected age). Data regarding pregnancy and neonatal outcome are collected prospectively. The goal is to identify potential maternal and neonatal risk factors that may affect infant neurodevelopment. Read Less

The Generic Database (GDB) is a registry of very low birth weight infants born alive in NICHD Neonatal Research Network (NRN) centers. The GDB collects observational baseline data on both mothers and infants, and the therapies used and outcomes of the infants. The information collected is not specific to a disease or treatment (i.e., it is "generic"). Data are analyzed to find associations and trends between baseline information, treatments, and infant outcome, and to develop future NRN trials. Read Less

In this project, after systematically developing electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) pictorial health warning labels (HWLs), a proven clinical lab model will be used to examine and test their effect when these are placed on the ENDS device on a variety of subjective (e.g. satisfaction, harm perception, nicotine dependence, intention to quit) and objective outcomes (e.g. plasma nicotine, puff topography) in young adults. This is a Phase 1 non-randomized, open-label, multiple dose, parallel-group study of ALG-097558 in subjects with severe renal impairment and subjects without renal impairment, matched for age, body weight and, to the extent possible, for gender. This is a multi-center clinical study enrolling up to 86 participants. The primary objectives are to determine the objective response rate (ORR) established by the confirmed best overall response (BOR) following intratumoral administration of DaRT - Diffusing Alpha-Emitters Radiation Therapy, as well as to assess the Duration of Response (DOR) 6 months from initial response. Secondary objectives are to assess the safety of DaRT, and to assess the progression free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), Overall Duration of Response (O-DOR), local control and quality of life (QOL) for patients treated with DaRT. This clinical trial evaluates the use of self-collected vaginal samples for human papillomavirus (HPV) testing in patients referred for a colposcopy and/or cervical excisional procedures to improve cervical cancer prevention. HPV is a common virus which usually causes infections that last only a few months, but sometimes can last longer. It is known to cause a variety of cancers including cancer of the cervix. Even though there are ways to detect cervical cancer early, many individuals do not undergo screening that involves pelvic exams. Over half of all new cervical cancer cases are among those who have either never been screened or who are not screened enough. Without appropriate screening and care, preventable pre-cancers may turn into cancer. A new way to detect cervical cancer is to have individuals collect their own vaginal sample for HPV testing to know their risk for cervical cancer. This may give individuals more flexibility and comfort having the ability to collect samples themselves, compared to a doctor performing a speculum examination and collecting the samples in a clinic. This study compares clinical accuracy of HPV testing on self-collected vaginal samples versus cervical samples collected by clinician. The Self-collection for HPV Testing to Improve Cervical Cancer Prevention (SHIP) Trial is part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)'s Cervical Cancer 'Last Mile' Initiative, a public private partnership that seeks to increase access to cervical cancer screening. The SHIP Trial focuses on developing clinical evidence to inform the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s regulatory reviews of self-collection approaches as alternative sample collection approaches for cervical cancer screening. Several industry partner-specific self-collection device and assay combinations will be non-competitively and independently evaluated with a similar study design framework to inform pre-approval and/or post-approval regulatory requirements. Early palliative care has been shown to improve the quality of life and even survival for patients with metastatic cancer. More and more supportive oncology teams in cancer centers now advocate for early integration of radiation therapy (RT) in a patient's palliative management course. While multiple randomized studies have evaluated the efficacy of different RT regimens in the treatment of symptomatic bone lesions, few studies have examined the impact of early, upfront RT for asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic (non- opioid dependent) spine metastases and its efficacy in preventing skeletal-related events (SREs). Since the pathophysiology of spinal metastatic disease is distinct from other bony metastatic disease, the proposed trial seeks to understand whether it is beneficial to patients with minimally symptomatic disease to undergo upfront RT to reduce the risks of SREs and their sequelae, including hospitalizations.
