Bone Marrow and Kidney Transplant for Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease and Blood Disorders
Recruiting
The main purpose of this study is to examine the outcome of a combined bone marrow and kidney transplant from a partially matched related (haploidentical or "haplo") donor. This is a pilot study, you are being asked to participate because you have a blood disorder and kidney disease. The aim of the combined transplant is to treat both your underlying blood disorder and kidney disease. We expect to have about 10 people participate in this study. Additionally, because the same person who is donat... Read More

Robotic Exosuit Augmented Locomotion (REAL) in the Clinic and Community
Recruiting
Previous studies of the exosuit technology have culminated in strong evidence for the gait-restorative effects of soft robotic exosuits for patients post-stroke by means of substitution for lost function. The present study builds on this work by suggesting that an exosuit's immediate gait-restorative effects can be leveraged during high intensity gait training to produce long-lasting gait restoration. Current gait training efforts are focused on either quality or intensity. They focus on gait qu... Read More

Hydroxyurea Optimization Through Precision Study
Recruiting
Hydroxyurea Optimization through Precision Study (HOPS) is a prospective, multi-center, randomized trial that will directly compare a novel, individualized dosing strategy of hydroxyurea to standard weight-based dosing for children with SCA. The primary objective of the study is to evaluate whether a pharmacokinetics-based starting hydroxyurea dose thieves superior fetal hemoglobin response to to standard weight-based initial dosing. Patients will be recruited from the pediatric sickle cell clin... Read More

Identification of Biomarkers for Patients With Vascular Anomalies
Recruiting
The study will use blood (serum and plasma) and tissue obtained from participants undergoing prescribed surgical resection of vascular anomalies of interest proposed in this study. The study will also use blood (serum and plasma) and tissue collected and stored in a tissue bank maintained by the Department of Hematology/Oncology.

Pistachios and Neural Macular Pigment
Recruiting
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss as people age. Studies have shown that lutein and zeaxanthin, nutrients found in green leafy vegetables and egg yolks, can help protect against AMD in older adults. These nutrients form a pigment in the retina (macular pigment) that can help protect the retina from light damage. Pistachios are rich sources of both lutein and zeaxanthin; thus, dietary intake of pistachios could serve as a beneficial food sourc... Read More

Clinical Validation of Samsung Smartwatch
Recruiting
Objective: Wearable technology holds promising potential for mental health monitoring and detection. Samsung has developed an algorithm that they believe can detect signs of depression and anxiety in smartwatch users. They have used this algorithm to create a "Mindfulness Index," which is an easily understood visual index of mental health. The primary aim of the study is to evaluate the performance of Samsung's Mindfulness Index in identifying those who have received a diagnosis of Major Depres... Read More

Navtemadlin (KRT-232) With or Without Anti-PD-1/Anti-PD-L1 for the Treatment of Patients With Merkel Cell Carcinoma
Recruiting
This study evaluates KRT-232, a novel oral small molecule inhibitor of MDM2, for the treatment of patients with Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC) who have failed treatment with at least one anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1 immunotherapy or in combination with avelumab in MCC patients who are anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1 treatment naïve.
