Ohio is currently home to 3206 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland and Dayton. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
Guselkumab vs Golimumab in PsA TNF Inadequate Responder Patients
Recruiting
The trial is an open-label randomized study that will examine whether switching to a selective IL23 inhibitor (guselkumab) is more effective than switching to a second TNFi (golimumab) among patients with PsA who have an inadequate response to a TNFi.

Comparison of Surgery and Medicine on the Impact of Diverticulitis (COSMID) Trial
Recruiting
The COSMID (Comparison of Surgery and Medicine on the Impact of Diverticulitis) trial is a pragmatic, patient-level randomized superiority trial of elective colectomy vs. best medical management for patients with quality of life (QoL) limiting diverticular disease. A parallel observational cohort will include those who are disinclined to have their treatment choice randomized, but are willing to contribute information about their outcomes. The goal of the COSMID trial is to answer the question:... Read More

Comparison of a Demand Oxygen Delivery
Recruiting
Conducting a randomized control trial of oxygen in children with Down syndrome to treat moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea. The aim of the study is to conduct a comparison between the 2 methods of oxygen delivery during sleep in 15 children from Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. 2 polysomnographies will be performed, one with continuous flow and the second with pulse flow.

Evaluation of Explanted Lungs by MRI and Biological Assays
Recruiting
The purpose of this multi-centered, NIH-sponsored study is to to develop an optimal protocol for using non-invasive 129Xe gas exchange MRI to detect changing disease activity in interstitial lung diseases (ILDs). We base this study on the demonstrated promise of 129Xe as a biomarker for both prognosis and therapy response, overwhelming interest from both industry and academic partners, and impending FDA approval for 129Xe ventilation MRI. This requires disseminating standardized and repeatable m... Read More

Testing Drug Efficacy in Cystic Fibrosis Through N-of-1 Trials
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to validate and utilize a personalized medicine approach to identify potential treatments with current FDA approved CFTR modifiers for non-approved CF gene mutations. The study will perform ex vivo testing of CFTR function and current marketed CFTR modulating drugs on expanded nasal cells at Cincinnati Children's Human Nasal Epithelium (HNE) Core Laboratory. The results will be confirmed and translated into bedside care through an N of 1 trial to determine effectiven... Read More

Hp129 Xenon Imaging and BOS in Lung Transplantation
Recruiting
The research is being conducted to develop new imaging methods that are sufficiently sensitive to allow for early diagnosis of BOS, a chronic allograft rejection affecting 50-60% of lung transplanted recipients who survive 5 years after transplant. Although lung transplantation has evolved into an effective therapeutic option for a large number of pediatric patients with end-stage pulmonary disease, long-term survival after lung transplantation is far worse than after the transplantation of othe... Neuroblastoma Maintenance Therapy Trial
Recruiting
Difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) will be used in an open label, single agent, multicenter, study for patients with neuroblastoma in remission. In this study subjects will receive 730 Days of oral difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) at a dose of 750 mg/m2 ± 250 mg/m2 BID (strata 1, 2, 3, and 4) OR 2500 mg/m2 BID (stratum 1B) on each day of study. This study will focus on the use of DFMO in high risk neuroblastoma patients that are in remission as a strategy to prevent recurrence.

CYCLE-AD (CYcling to Cease or Limit the Effects of Alzheimer's Disease)
Recruiting
The overall goal of the CYCLE-AD trial is to determine the role of long-term, high intensity exercise in slowing or delaying the onset of cognitive and AD-related brain changes in e4 carriers. Successful translation and demonstration of the effectiveness of a scalable home-based exercise intervention capable of slowing or delaying disease onset will transform AD treatment, improve patient outcomes and quality of life, and reduce health care costs.

Effects of Relugolix vs Leuprolide on Cardiac Function in Patients With Prostate Cancer
Recruiting
This phase II trial compares the effect of relugolix to leuprolide on cardiac function and performance in patients with prostate cancer. Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) has been a key component for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer for decades. The term androgen deprivation therapy means lowering a man's testosterone. Long-term studies show that ADT may contribute to a detriment to cardiac health and predisposes men to developing cardiac diseases. Recent studies suggest that men takin... Read More
