Atlas of Retinal Imaging in Alzheimer's Study
Recruiting
The Atlas of Retinal Imaging in Alzheimer's (ARIAS) study is a 5-year study examining the natural history of retinal imaging biomarkers associated with disease risk, disease burden, and disease progression in Alzheimer's disease (AD). The objective of this project is to create a 'gold standard' reference database of structural anatomic and functional imaging of the retina, in order to enable the identification and development of both sensitive and reliable markers of AD risk and/or progression.... Improving Cancer Screening and Prevention During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Underserved Populations of Rhode Island
Recruiting
Lifespan Cancer Institute serves over 50% of cancer patients in the state. Rhode Island is known for strong medical care and high rates of cancer screening with mammography and colonoscopy. However, cancer screening has plummeted during the COVID-19 pandemic, in part to closing physician offices and stopping non-urgent medical procedures. In addition, anecdotal reports suggest the public remains concerned about returning to physician's offices and risking possible exposure to COVID-19. As in the... Read More

Chrononutrition and Adolescent Weight Control
Recruiting
Comprehensive lifestyle interventions are recommended for the treatment of adolescent obesity; however, evidence suggests that they are not as effective in teens as they are in children and adults. Recent evidence supports that shifting the timing of energy intake earlier in the day has led to improved weight loss outcomes among adults with overweight and obesity. Given that adolescents traditionally consume the majority of their daily energy intake late in the day (past 5PM), this approach may... Read More

Metoclopramide, Azithromycin, or Nondrug Pretreatment for UGIB to Reduce Second Endoscopy
Recruiting
Early endoscopy is an integral part of the management plan for patients presenting with clinical signs of severe or ongoing UGIB. An accurate endoscopic diagnosis and successful endoscopic hemostasis is highly dependent on adequate visualization of the entire gastric mucosa. Metoclopramide has previously been investigated as a prokinetic agent to aid gastric emptying prior to endoscopy, but its widespread adoption is limited by a lack of high quality clinical evidence as well as concerns regardi... Fat Grafting Technique for Fecal Incontinence
Recruiting
Fecal Incontinence affects an estimated 2-20% of the general population, and up to 50% of the elderly and institutionalized population. Patients with incontinence tend to suffer in silence; they often do not seek help because of embarrassment and stigma. They often become confined to their homes because they are afraid of having an "accident". Although this is not a life-threatening condition, the psychological, emotional, and social impact can be devastating.

Project Minority AIDS Prevention: Reaching Black and Hispanic MSM About PrEP and TasP Using Social Media
Recruiting
This project has the potential to improve the implementation science of treatment as prevention and pre-exposure prophylaxis uptake as a public health strategy for reducing new HIV infections in the United States. The investigators will develop and pilot test an intervention that combines messages sent over social media plus a newly developed interactive website specifically developed by and for Black/African American and Hispanic/Latino MSM to encourage treatment as prevention and pre-exposure... Oral vs Intravesical Analgesia for Office Bladder Botox Injections
Recruiting
OnabotulinumtoxinA (Botox®) bladder injections are a highly effective treatment for overactive bladder and urgency urinary incontinence. The procedure is typically performed in the office setting with one of two medications to control comfort. However, the effectiveness of these medications has never been compared. The goal of this study is to determine which medication is better at providing comfort during bladder Botox® injections.

CPAP vs.Unsynchronized NIPPV at Equal Mean Airway Pressure
Recruiting
This study seeks to determine if standard continuous positive airway pressure, known as CPAP is as effective as a more complicated approach that generates intermittent increases in airway pressure applied to the nostrils via a breathing machine. The latter is known as NIPPV and requires costly equipment to operate. Previous studies did not ensure that the average pressure applied to the lungs was equal and thus did not make for a fair comparison. The investigators believe that when the same aver... Read More

Pulmonary Hypertension Association Registry
Recruiting
The PHA Registry (PHAR) is a national study about people who have pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). PHAR collects information from people with PAH and CTEPH who are cared for in participating PHA-accredited Pulmonary Hypertension Care Centers throughout the U.S. PHAR will determine how people with PAH and CTEPH are evaluated, tested, and treated, and will observe how well these participants do. The goal is to see if people with PH a... Read More

rTMS and EF Training for Working Memory Deficits in Adolescent Psychopathology
Recruiting
Executive functioning (EF) deficits are a core, transdiagnostic feature of psychopathology and one of the strongest predictors of clinical and functional outcomes, yet there remains a dearth of treatments available for EF deficits. EF is a collection of cognitive control processes that includes working memory (i.e., maintain/manipulate data not perceptually present), inhibition (i.e., inhibit/control of attention, thoughts, behaviors) and flexibility (i.e., shift flexibly between tasks/sets). A Home-based Intervention to Improve the Diet Quality of Preschoolers
Recruiting
U.S. children eat too little fruits and vegetables and whole grains, and too many energy dense foods, dietary behaviors associated with increased morbidity from cardiovascular diseases. Parents play a key role in shaping their child's diet and best practices suggest that parents should involve children in food preparation, offer, model and encourage a variety of healthy foods. In addition, while parents help to shape food preferences, not all children respond in the same way and certain appetiti... Read More
