There are currently 37 active clinical trials seeking participants for Fibromyalgia research studies. The states with the highest number of trials for Autism participants are Florida, California, Ohio and Texas.
Brain Mechanisms of Juvenile Fibromyalgia
Recruiting
This study evaluates whether differences exist between adolescent females with juvenile-onset fibromyalgia and healthy controls in processing of pain and emotion at the neural level as assessed by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). The study includes a longitudinal component to evaluate changes in neural processing of pain and emotion before and after different treatment strategies.

Supraspinal Processing of Sensory Aspects of Pain
Recruiting
The goal of this basic science study is to learn about the brain mechanisms of chronic pain across different chronic pain syndromes in pediatric patients. The main questions it aims to answer are: Are there shared and distinct brain systems engaged by different forms of pediatric chronic pain? What are predictors of recovery from chronic pain? What brain systems are associated with the spread of pain? For this study participants will undergo: Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) Quant... Read More

Treatment of Fibromyalgia With the FibroNova Neuromodulation Device
Recruiting
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic disorder that affects the musculoskeletal system, causing widespread pain, tenderness, and fatigue. It is estimated to affect 1-5% of the population. The primary symptom of fibromyalgia is widespread pain throughout the body, accompanied by tenderness and sensitivity to pressure. Pharmacological treatments include drugs such as antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and painkillers. Another treatment option for fibromyalgia is the use of devices such as Quell. Other no... Generalized Hypersensitivity in Patients With Fibromyalgia Syndrome
Recruiting
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic musculoskeletal pain disorder with unknown causes. Our previous studies showed abnormal sensations of second pain (wind-up), indicating central hypersensitivity as an important mechanism of FM. Triggering events have been implicated as the cause of central hypersensitivity.

Mechanisms of Affective Touch in Chronic Pain
Recruiting
This study compares how different types of touch found in massage therapies impact pain perception, and whether these effects differ in individuals with and without chronic pain. This study also examines psychological factors that may predict differences in touch perception in individuals with chronic pain. This research will improve our understanding of whether and how massage therapies can benefit pain and health, and whether this differs in people who suffer from chronic pain.

Explosive Synchronization of Brain Network Activity in Chronic Pain
Recruiting
This project is being conducted to evaluate the impact of explosive synchronization (ES) and its treatment with non-invasive brain stimulation in fibromyalgia (FM). The study design has three components, however, only 2 aims are enrolling participants. The first part (Aim1) is a cross sectional assessment of brain network explosive synchronization activity, connectivity, and response to pain in healthy controls and age and sex-matched fibromyalgia patients; the third part (Aim 3) is a longitudin... Rheumatology Diet Study
Recruiting
This study aims to collect information on rheumatology patients' dietary habits, autoimmune disease activity, dietary changes, disease symptom improvements, and perceptions on their dietary habits and how it affects their autoimmune disease. The main objective is to see if rheumatology patients change their dietary habits after their diagnosis of an autoimmune disease and if it subjectively improved their disease symptoms. It will also look at rheumatology patients' expectations for their rheuma... Read More

Brain Mechanisms of Psychosocial Aspects of Acupuncture Therapy
Recruiting
The overall aim of the present proposal is to investigate how patients' and clinicians' (Licensed acupuncturists, LAc) neural and autonomic processes during treatment interaction correlate to patient outcomes. Male and female healthy clinicians and fibromyalgia patients will be recruited for the study.

Sleep and Pain Interventions in Women With Fibromyalgia
Recruiting
Insomnia affects 67-88% of chronic pain patients. SPIN II is a randomized controlled clinical trial that will compare the effects of two cognitive behavioral sleep treatments in women with fibromyalgia and insomnia. This trial will yield important information about the roles of sleep, arousal, and brain structure and function in the development and maintenance of chronic pain in women with fibromyalgia.

Cognitive Training to Enhance Brain Concordance During Acupuncture
Recruiting
This study will evaluate the impact of a novel non-pharmacological multimodal therapy, a type of approach known to improve pain outcomes and recommended by the Institute of Medicine report for chronic pain management. This study design will also allow the investigators to evaluate a neural model supporting therapeutic alliance for pain outcomes for fibromyalgia.

Tracking Peripheral Immune Cell Infiltration of the Brain in Central Inflammatory Disorders Using [Zr-89]Oxinate-4-labeled Leukocytes.
Recruiting
This study will use brain Positron Emission Tomography/ Magnetic Resonance Imaging (PET/MRI) and an investigational radioactive drug called [Zr-89]oxine to track the location of white blood cells (also called leukocytes) in the body. PET/MRI will be used to visualize labeled white blood cells and determine if they enter the central nervous system in conditions associated with brain inflammation (also called neuroinflammation). By better understanding the role of neuroinflammation in fibromyalgia... Read More
