Chemotherapy With or Without Immunotherapy for Peritoneal Mesothelioma
Recruiting
This phase II trial compares the usual treatment alone (carboplatin, pemetrexed, and bevacizumab) to using immunotherapy (atezolizumab) plus the usual treatment in treating patients with peritoneal mesothelioma. The usual treatment consists of surgery or chemotherapy. Carboplatin is in a class of medications known as platinum-containing compounds. It works in a way similar to the anticancer drug cisplatin, but may be better tolerated than cisplatin. Carboplatin works by killing, stopping or slow... Read More

CMAP Refinement for Pressure Injury Prevention
Recruiting
For Veterans with spinal cord injury who use a wheelchair, pressure injuries related to sitting are a significant daily threat to well-being. Pressure injuries are costly to treat, negatively impact quality of life and community participation, and can be life threatening. Moving or shifting at regular intervals in the wheelchair redistributes harmful pressure and reduces risk for skin breakdown, yet these movements are a challenge to perform consistently. The challenge exists due to lack of sens... Read More

An Imaging Agent (Pafolacianine) for Identifying Lesions in Pediatric Patients With Primary or Metastatic Solid Tumors
Recruiting
This phase III trial studies how well pafolacianine works for identifying cancerous lesions in children and adolescent patients with primary solid tumors or solid tumors that have spread from where they first started (primary site) to other places in the body (metastatic). Pafolacianine is a fluorescent imaging agent that targets folate receptors which are overexpressed in many cancers and is used with near infrared (NIR) imaging during surgery to identify tumor cells. NIR uses a special camera... Read More

Personalized Nutrition Therapy Using Continuous Glucose Monitoring to Improve Outcomes in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Recruiting
Nutrition guidelines state that multiple eating patterns are effective for type 2 diabetes and that therapy should be individualized. Yet many nutrition plans fail to account for interpersonal variability in blood glucose response to meals. This diminishes the ability of dietary interventions to optimize glycemic control and may lessen patient satisfaction, self--efficacy, and adherence. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can facilitate behavior change in type 2 diabetes and has been associated... Read More

Effects of Walking in Greenspace and the Built Environment in Adults With Prediabetes: A Randomized Crossover Trial
Recruiting
Approximately 92 million U.S. adults (\~38% of population) have prediabetes (PreD). Because people with PreD are at high risk CMD, they are a target population for diabetes prevention programs. The focus is people with PreD because of their high risk for developing CMD and large numbers, providing an opportunity to investigate behavioral and environmental approaches as preventive measures in a well-defined population. Urbanization affords challenges and opportunities to public health that includ... Read More

Normalizing Cervical Intersegmental Kinematics With Spinal Manipulative Therapy
Recruiting
The broad long-term objective is to develop an objective biomarker for spinal health based on aberrant or abnormal movement patterns during functional activities to better target spinal manipulation therapy (SMT) and other conservative treatments. The central hypotheses are a) that aberrant spinal motions and their location (area and level) are indicative of underlying spinal dysfunction, and b) that quantified 3D cervical spine intersegmental and global motion patterns during functional tasks c... Collaborative Solutions for Breaking up Sedentary Time in Black Older Adults With Type 2 Diabetes: The Interrupt Diabetes Study
Recruiting
The disparate burden of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) faced by Black individuals makes attention to preventing or delaying the development of T2D and its associated cardiovascular (CV) complications, essential.
Similar to differences in cardiovascular disease (CVD) rates across racial and ethnic groups of older people, there are differences in engagement in physical activity (PA), a significant contributor to CVD. Black adults are less likely to engage in physical activity PA than their non-Hispanic Wh... Read More
