Ramucirumab and Paclitaxel or FOLFIRI in Advanced Small Bowel Cancers
Recruiting
This phase II trial studies how well ramucirumab and paclitaxel or the FOLFIRI regimen (leucovorin calcium, fluorouracil, and irinotecan hydrochloride) work in treating patients with small bowel cancers that have spread extensively to other anatomic sites (advanced) or are no longer responding to treatment (refractory). Ramucirumab is a monoclonal antibody that attaches to and inhibits a molecule called VEGFR-2. This may restrain new blood vessel formation therefore reducing nutrient supply to t... Read More

Genomic Profiling in Cancer Patients
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to determine whether certain genes in cancer may be abnormal. When a gene is abnormal this is called a mutation. Most mutations in cancer cells are not inherited (passed down from parents) but happen after birth in the cancer itself. Most cancers have many mutations. Some of these mutations are important for the cancer cells to survive while others are not. The goal of this study is test cancer for certain mutations using leftover tumor tissue from a previous surgery... Read More

Stimulating Specific Brain Areas (VOP/VIM) With Electricity to Improve Movement and Muscle Control
Recruiting
In this study the investigators aim to enroll patients scheduled to undergo deep brain stimulation (DBS) implantation for movement disorders for intra-operative testing. In addition to standard-of-care surgical procedure to implant deep brain stimulation electrode leads, participants will also be stimulated and recorded from cortical areas by a temporary strip electrode (1X6) in the subdural space. The electrodes will be connected to external stimulators and a series of experiments will be perfo... Read More

Long-term Brain Stimulation of the Motor Ventral Thalamus (VOP/VIM) to Improve Motor Function
Recruiting
This study aims to recruit patients already implanted with Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders to complete tasks assessing parameters of motor output, speech, and swallowing functions, both with and without stimulation. DBS parameters would be adjusted prior to motor testing. Patients would then participate in multiple sessions performing contralateral upper extremity movement tasks measuring movement speed, grip strength, and strength modulation, facial movement, swallowing, and... Study of Sodium Phenylbutyrate (ACER-001) for the Treatment of Pediatric and Adults Patients With Medium Chain Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (MCADD)
Recruiting
This is a medical research study to test a medication in patients 4 years of age and older with a disease called medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (MCADD) caused by the common ACADM c.985 A\>G (K304E) mutation. The medication is sodium phenylbutyrate (ACER-001), which is currently FDA approved for the treatment of Urea Cyle Disorders. Previous research suggests that sodium phenylbutyrate may also be effective in the treatment MCADD. This study will investigate the safety and efficac... Read More

Testing the Addition of an Anti-Cancer Drug, Abemaciclib, to the Usual Chemotherapy Treatment (5-Fluorouracil) for Metastatic, Refractory Colorectal Cancer
Recruiting
This phase I trial tests the safety, side effects, and best dose of abemaciclib in combination with 5-fluorouracil and how well it works in treating patients with colorectal cancer that has spread from where it first started (primary site) to other places in the body (metastatic) and that has not responded to treatment (refractory). Abemaciclib, a type of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor, blocks certain proteins, which may help keep tumor cells from growing. 5-fluorouracil, a type of antimetabo... Read More

Cervical Spine Focused Treatment for Patients With Persistent Concussion Symptoms and Neck Pain
Recruiting
Assess the feasibility of recruiting, enrolling and randomizing patients with concussion symptoms and neck pain to receive manual therapy and cervical rehabilitative exercises in addition to standard concussion treatment.
In the usual care workflow provided at the participating concussion clinic, cervical spine rehab is not typically introduced until after week 4. The rationale is that neck pain is often a self-limiting condition that may resolve spontaneously, without the need for specific cer... Read More
