Tennessee Clinical Trials

A listing of Tennessee clinical trials actively recruiting patient volunteers.

Tennessee is a lively and lovely state known as the birthplace of bluegrass and the site of Graceland and Dollywood. It's also the place to go to see one of America's most iconic national parks, The Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Nashville is where you can immerse yourself in the history of the music business, while Memphis, Knoxville, and Gatlinburg each offer their own perks and sights. In any of these cities and beyond, sound healthcare is easy to find. Vanderbilt University Medical Center has been ranked #1 in the state, with more than 1,000 acute care beds in service.

International Pediatric Adrenocortical Tumor Registry

This study aims to collect demographic and medical information including detailed family history of cancer of children and adolescents with adrenocortical tumors in order to learn more about the clinical and epidemiological aspects, treatment modalities, and outcome of patients with this rare disease, worldwide. In addition, investigators at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (SJCRH) plan to perform molecular studies of tumor cells aimed to clarify the role of the TP53 gene and other genetic ...

Pharmacogenetic Determinants Of Treatment Response In Children

To investigate whether genetic polymorphisms in genes encoding proteins involved in the metabolism or effects of drugs or environmental agents influence the disposition or effects of these xenobiotic substrates. To investigate the nature of heritability and the genetic basis of pharmacogenetic traits by studying family members of individuals with specific genotypes.

Conditions: All Malignancies, Children Being Treated for Catastrophic Illness

Long-Term Follow-Up of Patients Who Have Participated in Children's Oncology Group Studies

This clinical trial keeps track of and collects follow-up information from patients who are currently enrolled on or have participated in a Children's Oncology Group study. Developing a way to keep track of patients who have participated in Children's Oncology Group studies may allow doctors learn more about the long-term effects of cancer treatment and help them reduce problems related to treatment and improve patient quality of life.

Establishment of a Lifetime of Cohort of Adults Surviving Childhood Cancer

Childhood cancer predisposes to health risks that may not become apparent until many years after completion of therapy. The SJLIFE protocol is designed to establish a lifetime cohort of childhood cancer survivors treated at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to facilitate evaluation of health outcomes in aging adults surviving pediatric cancer. The study focuses on the following Primary and secondary objectives: To establish a lifetime cohort of childhood cancer survivors treated at St. Jud ...

Neuropsychological and Behavioral Testing in Younger Patients With Cancer

This research trial studies neuropsychological (learning, remembering or thinking) and behavioral outcomes in children and adolescents with cancer by collecting information over time from a series of tests.

Conditions: Childhood Malignant Neoplasm

A Safety Extension Study of Trastuzumab Emtansine in Participants Previously Treated With Trastuzumab Emtansine Alone or in Combination With Other Anti-Cancer Therapy in One of the Parent Studies

This is a global, multicenter, open-label safety extension study. Participants receiving single-agent trastuzumab emtansine or trastuzumab emtansine administered in combination with other anti-cancer therapies in a Genentech / Roche-sponsored parent study who are active and receiving benefit at the closure of parent study are eligible for continued treatment in this study.

A Study to Evaluate the Pharmacokinetics, Safety, Tolerability, and Antiviral Activity of Rilpivirine (TMC278) in Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infected Adolescents and Children Aged Greater Than or Equal to 6 Years

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetics, safety and antiviral activity of rilpivirine (TMC278) 25 milligram (mg) or adjusted dose once daily in combination with an investigator-selected background regimen containing 2 nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (N[t]RTIs) (zidovudine [AZT], abacavir [ABC], or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate [TDF] in combination with lamivudine [3TC] or emtricitabine [FTC] in antiretroviral (ARV) treatment-naïve adolescents and chil ...

Methionine PET/CT Studies In Patients With Cancer

The purpose of this study is to test the usefulness of imaging with radiolabeled methionine in the evaluation of children and young adults with tumor(s). Methionine is a naturally occurring essential amino acid. It is crucial for the formation of proteins. When labeled with carbon-11 (C-11), a radioactive isotope of the naturally occurring carbon-12, the distribution of methionine can be determined noninvasively using a PET (positron emission tomography) camera. C-11 methionine (MET) has been sh ...

Radiation Therapy With Concomitant and Adjuvant Temozolomide Versus Radiation Therapy With Adjuvant PCV Chemotherapy in Patients With Anaplastic Glioma or Low Grade Glioma

Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether giving radiation with concomitant and adjuvant temozolomide versus radiation with adjuvant PCV is more effective in treating anaplastic glioma or low grade glioma.

Collecting and Analyzing Tissue Samples From Patients Undergoing Surgery for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

RATIONALE: Studying samples of tumor tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that may occur in RNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This research study is collecting and analyzing lung tissue samples from patients undergoing surgery for non-small cell lung cancer.

Conditions: Lung Cancer

Study of Stored Tumor Samples in Young Patients With Brain Tumors

This laboratory study is looking at stored tumor samples in young patients with brain tumors. Studying samples of tumor tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer.

Molecular Predictors of Cancer in Patients at High Risk of Lung Cancer

RATIONALE: Using samples of blood, urine, sputum, and lung tissue from patients at high risk of cancer for laboratory studies may help doctors learn more about changes that may occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This research study is looking at molecular predictors of cancer in patients at high risk of lung cancer.
