Virginia is currently home to 1851 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Richmond, Charlottesville, Norfolk and Fairfax. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
Estab Biomarkers and Clinical Endpoints in Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 (END-DM1)
Recruiting
Building on previous work of the Myotonic Dystrophy Clinical Research Network (DMCRN), the present study seeks to overcome insufficient data on natural history; lack of reliable biomarkers; and incomplete characterization and limited biological understanding of the phenotypic heterogeneity of Myotonic Dystrophy 1 by examining strategies to improve the reliability by making further refinements in our sample collection and analysis procedures by developing strategies for managing patient heterogen... An Open-Label Pilot Study of VTX2735 in Recurrent Pericarditis
Recruiting
This is a study to understand if taking VTX2735 is safe and effective in participants diagnosed with Recurrent Pericarditis (RP). Approximately 30 patients will take VTX2735. The study consists of a 30-day Screening Period (to see if a participant qualifies for the study), a 6-week Open Label Treatment period (a participant receives active Dose A), a 7-week Extension Treatment period (a participant meets criteria for continuing and receives active Dose A) and a 14-day Follow-Up Period.

A Study to Evaluate VXA-CoV2-3.3 COVID-19 Vaccine Against Currently Approved/Authorized mRNA COVID-19 Injectable Booster Vaccine in Adults Previously Immunized Against COVID-19 Infection
Recruiting
The primary objective of the study is to determine the relative efficacy of the investigational oral severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) vaccine tablet VXA-CoV2-3.3 compared to a currently recommended vaccine for the prevention of symptomatic Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). In order to represent a more recently circulating SARS-CoV-2 variant, the main study endpoints will now evaluate the VXA-CoV2-3.3 (KP.2 strain) vaccine, and not the VXA-CoV2-3.1 (XBB.1.5 strain)... Autologous Bone Marrow Aspirate Treatment for Early-Stage Osteonecrosis
Recruiting
Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a debilitating musculoskeletal disease that is characterized by localized death of bone cells and associated cellular elements within the subchondral bone. If it progresses, it results in the collapse of the femoral head (ball part of the hip) giving rise to secondary arthritis. This condition is associated with marked pain and loss of function, often necessitating a joint replacement. Due to the relatively young age of onset of ONFH (often in 20s and... Read More

A Study to Investigate the Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics (PK), and Preliminary Anticancer Activity of GSK4524101 Alone or With Niraparib in Participants With Solid Tumors
Recruiting
The primary purpose of this study is to determine the maximum tolerated dose of GSK4524101 monotherapy (MTD) and GSK4524101 in combination with niraparib (MTDc). The study consists of two parts - Part 1 (Dose Escalation) and Part 2 (Dose Expansion).

High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation for ADT-Induced Bone Loss in Older Prostate Cancer Patients
Recruiting
This phase III trial tests whether high-dose vitamin D works in treating androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT)-induced bone loss in patients with prostate cancer who are undergoing androgen-deprivation therapy. Vitamins are substances that the body needs to grow and develop normally. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium. Calcium is one of the main building blocks of bone. A lack of vitamin D can lead to bone diseases such as osteoporosis or rickets. This trial may help researchers determine if h... Read More

PRIME HFrEF: Novel Exercise for Older Patients With Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction
Recruiting
This study is trying to find out whether performing a hybrid aerobic-resistance exercise training program (titled PRIME: Peripheral Remodeling via Intermittent Muscular Exercise) results in better health outcomes than the traditional exercise training program (called COMBO) that is used in individuals with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Participants will be randomized (like the flip of a coin) to either PRIME (investigational) or the traditional exercise program (standard... Read More

Study of Low-intensity Focused Ultrasound Effects on Heat Evoked fMRI Signals
Recruiting
Study aims to examine the effects of noninvasive brain stimulation on brain signals. This insight may have potential clinical implications for addiction, pain, and mental health populations. Participants will receive MRI and CT imaging. Participants receive low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) to temporarily change brain activity. Participants then receive fMRI scans to measure changes in both resting and heat evoked brain signaling using a quantitative sensory testing device. Heart rate, blo... Read More
