Sleep and Glycemic Control in Type 2 Diabetes Adolescents
Recruiting
The primary objective is to determine the cross-sectional relationship between sleep duration (as measured by 14 days of actigraphy) and glycemic control in an adolescent Type 2 Diabetes (T2DM) cohort (age 12-20y, n=67). A secondary objective is to determine if a loss-framed incentive for achieving sleep goals can increase sleep duration in 15 adolescent patients diagnosed with T2DM with insufficient sleep. Another secondary objective is to test if increasing sleep duration leads to improved gly... Read More

Role of Microvascular Insulin Resistance and Cardiorespiratory Fitness Diabetes
Recruiting
The goal of this two-site grant proposal is to determine the role of the decreased insulin-mediated muscle perfusion found in type 2 diabetes in contributing to the development of cardiac and skeletal muscle dysfunction and subsequent functional exercise impairment. In addition, it is also our goal to determine whether exercise training attenuates insulin resistance and restores insulin-mediated perfusion to the heart and to skeletal muscle, leading to improved cardiac function and exercise perf... My ESSENCE - A Research Study on Mindfulness for African-Americans With Type 2 Diabetes
Recruiting
The proposed research and training will allow Dr. Alana Biggers to obtain critical research skills and study a mindfulness meditation program designed to improve sleep and reduce stress in African-American adults with diabetes. If effective, this program may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease among African-Americans with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk of cardiovascular disease.

NT-ProBNP-based Heart Failure Screening and Prevention Trial in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: STRONG-DM Study
Recruiting
A pragmatic, randomized clinical trial to evaluate the effect of a heart failure (HF) risk assessment and prevention strategy incorporating HF clinical risk scores (WATCH-DM) with cardiac biomarker (NT-proBNP) paired with a clinical decision support tool to implement an intensive prevention strategy among patients with high risk focused on implementation of evidence-based HF preventive therapies.

DIALYSIS-TIR Study
Recruiting
This study will look at control of blood sugar levels in persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus currently on chronic dialysis. Researchers will compare blood sugar levels in people taking semaglutide to people taking "dummy" medicine. The treatment participants get will be decided randomly. Participants will need to inject the study medication once a week. The study will last for 1 year and a month. Participants will be asked to wear a sensor that measures blood sugar levels for a period of 10 d... Read More

Designing Team Clinic for Youth with Type 2 Diabetes
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about if shared medical appointment is an acceptable way to deliver care to youth with type 2 diabetes. The main question\[s\] it aims to answer are: * Design four group activities centered around nutrition therapy, peer interactions, exercise and stress management. * Design the clinical workflow for implementation phase. Participants will attend quarterly clinic appointments and group activities and take surveys. Researchers will compare this inter... Read More

Acute and Chronic Effects of Oral Ketones in Subjects With HFrEF and Diabetes
Recruiting
This study will provide insight into whether cardiac function changes with oral Ketone Esters (KE) administered to patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Plasma ketones are avidly extracted by cardiac muscle and their uptake is not dependent upon insulin or influenced by insulin resistance.

Automated Insulin Delivery for Inpatients with Dysglycemia
Recruiting
This randomized controlled trial will test the efficacy and safety of automated insulin delivery (AID) in hospitalized patients with diabetes (type 1 or type 2) requiring insulin therapy who are admitted to general medical/surgical floors. The main objectives of this study are: * To test the efficacy and safety of AID versus multiple daily insulin injections (MDI) + CGM in the inpatient setting * To determine differences in CGM-derived metrics between AID and MDI plus CGM in the hospital and e... Diabetes Care for Breast Cancer Patients
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to find a new way to make diabetes care better for patients with breast cancer and diabetes who are currently receiving cancer treatment. We will have two groups, the researchers will decide who is in which group. One group will be working with a nurse who is trained in diabetes care while the other does not. This will allow the investigators to see if having a trained nurse as part of the care team can help improve the care the patients receive.

The Breakfast Study
Recruiting
The investigators will conduct an acceptability, feasibility, preliminary effectiveness trial of a 4-month, online, very low-carbohydrate breakfast-focused program in 120 adults with type 2 diabetes. The investigators will measure acceptability and feasibility, plus critical efficacy outcomes, such as changes in HbA1c, anti-hyperglycemic medications, glycemic variability, body weight, blood pressure, and lipids.
