MANTRA is a prospective, multiple-arm, multi-center, global, post-market clinical follow-up study. The main objective is to monitor ongoing safety and performance of the CORCYM devices and accessories used for aortic, mitral and tricuspid valvular diseases in a real-world setting. Corcym S.r.l., is a medical device manufacturer with a broad product portfolio for cardiac surgeons, offering solutions for the treatment of aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve disease. The MANTRA Master Plan (Master Protocol) is intended as an overarching Umbrella Protocol that allows multiple sub-studies to be added, as needed. The Umbrella Master Protocol concept offers an excellent solution to provide post-marketing clinical follow-up information on the entire cardiac surgery heart valve portfolio of the sponsor in a common database, including corelab assessment of hemodynamic and structural performance, annular motion and Dynamics for one of the products. This study aims to evaluate the cost effectiveness of Alvimopan as rescue therapy in patients undergoing colorectal or small bowel resection who develop POI, and its safety and effectiveness in reducing LOS and POI duration. This will be a prospective randomized control trial with a total of 58 patients, 29 in each group. Patients who undergo laparoscopic or open colorectal resection, small bowel resection, or ileostomy reversal with small bowel resection that subsequently develop postoperative ileus will be eligible for enrollment. If they meet inclusion/exclusion criteria, they will be randomized at the time of diagnosis of postoperative ileus to receive Alvimopan as rescue therapy or to receive conservative standard care. Patients randomized to the study group will be given a maximum of 3 doses of Alvimopan 12mg orally, 12 hours apart. Alvimopan will be given from the time of diagnosis of postoperative ileus to the time of return of bowel function or the maximum 3 doses. Subsequent Alvimopan doses will be given if there is no return of bowel function or if symptoms of distension and/or nausea persist despite some return of bowel function. Read Less

Enroll-HD is a longitudinal, observational, multinational study that integrates two former Huntington's disease (HD) registries-REGISTRY in Europe, and COHORT in North America and Australasia-while also expanding to include sites in Latin America. This study is a necessary and important step in the development of a new therapy for upper limb functional recovery in patients with severe motor impairment. It is the first clinical trial of non-invasive brain stimulation (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation or rTMS) delivered to excite the undamaged hemisphere (specifically the contralesional higher motor cortices or cHMC) in stroke. Therefore, this study will determine whether the positive results obtained in our short-term pilot study can be made to last longer and produce functional benefits in severe patients with the application of brain stimulation in combination with long-term rehabilitation therapy. Rehabilitation therapy administered is called contralaterally controlled functional electrical stimulation (CCFES). Determining whether combining rTMS facilitating the cHMC with CCFES produces synergistic gains in functional abilities in severe patients is necessary for acceptance by the clinical community and to move this technology toward commercialization and widespread dissemination. The proposed study will determine whether the combination of rTMS facilitating the cHMC with CCFES produces greater improvements in upper extremity function in severe participants who are ≥6 months from stroke onset than the combination of rTMS facilitating the damaged hemisphere (specifically the ipsilesional primary motor cortex, iM1) and CCFES or the combination of sham rTMS and CCFES. The secondary purposes are to define which patients benefit most from the treatments, which may inform future device and treatment development and clinical translation, and to explore what distinct effects the three treatments have on the brain. This is a study of adult patients with a severe and sudden brain injury who have a drain placed in their brain to measure pressure. The purpose of the study is to monitor the pressure in the brain using a monitor placed on the forehead, and compare this to a drain placed in the brain. Read Less

Obesity is a growing epidemic and bariatric surgery has been shown to be the most effective and efficient mean of achieving significant and sustainable weight loss in morbidly obese individuals. Studies have demonstrated that after LSG, between 5 and 30% of patients suffered from GERD, with a small subset of those patients (2.9 %) converting to another bariatric procedure (gastric bypass) because of debilitating GERD symptoms. The investigators propose this current study to examine mucosal impedance before and after sleeve gastrectomy using the novel mucosal impedance procedure, as well as assess quality of life and GERD symptoms parameters. In addition, this study will determine if the level of mucosal impedance pre-sleeve gastrectomy may predict the development of GERD post-surgery. Our Hypothesis is that sleeve gastrectomy is highly associated with the risk of developing new onset GERD. This is a prospective, comparative cohort study. A total of 15 obese patients (BMI ≥ 35) undergoing sleeve gastrectomy by choice will be recruited into the study from our bariatric and weight management program. An initial screening upper endoscopy will be performed as part of pre-bariatric evaluation, during which mucosal impedance will be performed with the consent of the patient. Patients with evidence of erosive esophagitis (LA grade A-D), Barrett's esophagus or eosinophilic esophagitis will be excluded from the study. As per surgical recommendation, PPI will be used for 6 months in all bariatric patients. Six months post-surgery, study patients will be re-evaluated by the GERD symptoms Checklist and SF 36. In addition, their new BMI will be documented. PPI will be held for at least 1 week and a 6 months post-surgical upper endoscopy will be performed to determine the presence or absence of erosive esophagitis and Barrett's esophagus. This is an observational case-control study to train and validate a genome-wide methylome enrichment platform to detect multiple cancer types and to differentiate amongst cancer types. The cancers included in this study are brain, breast, bladder, cervical, colorectal, endometrial, esophageal, gastric, head and neck, hepatobiliary, leukemia, lung, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, renal, sarcoma, and thyroid. These cancers were selected based on their prevalence and mortality to maximize impact on clinical care. Additionally, the ability of the whole-genome methylome enrichment platform to detect minimal residual disease after completion of cancer treatment and to detect relapse prior to clinical presentation will be evaluated in four cancer types (breast, colorectal, lung, prostate). The purpose of this study is to perform a long-term analysis of a large group of individuals with various UCDs.
