Pennsylvania is currently home to 3311 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Hershey and Allentown. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
Evaluation of a Monofocal Intraocular Lens
Recruiting
The aim of this study is to investigate the 3-month visual performance of the CT LUCIA 621P IOL, a hydrophobic aspheric monofocal IOL with a non-constant aspheric optic profile in adult patients 50 years of age or older who are undergoing cataract surgery.

More Sleep: Pain Response to Longer Sleep
Recruiting
This study is being done to find out whether extending sleep for at least an hour per night, seven days a week, predicts a higher tolerance and a higher threshold for pain. This is a 21-day study. Participants will be asked to wear sleep- and heart- monitoring watches. Pressure pain and cold pain will be measured at study visits.

Doxycycline for Emphysema in People Living With HIV (The DEPTH Trial)
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to determine if doxycycline will reduce progression of emphysema in people living with HIV. The secondary objectives are to examine the effects of doxycycline on change in quantity of emphysema, six minute walk distance, patient reported outcomes, ratio of forced expiratory volume in 1 second and forced vital capacity. Secondary objectives will also describe the safety and tolerability of doxycycline and determine if doxycycline is associated with development of ant... Read More

Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) Study
Recruiting
Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) is the most common genetic cause of renal failure. For several decades, ADPKD was regarded as an adult-onset disease. In the last decade, it has become more widely appreciated that the disease course begins in childhood. However, evidence-based guidelines on how to manage and approach children diagnosed with or at-risk for of ADPKD are lacking. Overall, there is insufficient data on the clinical course during childhood. The study intends to ge... Read More

A Study of TSR-022 in Participants With Advanced Solid Tumors (AMBER)
Recruiting
This is a first-in-human study evaluating the anti-T cell immunoglobulin and mucin containing protein-3 (TIM-3) antibody TSR-022. The study will be conducted in 2 parts with Part 1 consisting of dose escalation and Part 2 dose expansion. Part 1 will determine the recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D) of TSR-022 and Part 2 will evaluate the antitumor activity of TSR-022 in combination with TSR-042 or docetaxel and as monotherapy.

UAB HRFD Core Center: Core A: The Hepato/Renal Fibrocystic Diseases Translational Resource
Recruiting
In 2005, The University of Alabama at Birmingham established a NIDDK-funded, interdisciplinary center of excellence in PKD-related research, with specific emphasis on recessive PKD. In the previous Core Center award period, we developed a Core Resource to capture clinical and mutational data for ARPKD patients ("Core A: ARPKD Clinical and Genetic Resource", NCT00575705). However, studies in the last several years have demonstrated that ARPKD and other single gene disorders characterized by renal... Read More

Project e-PBI+ - Parent Intervention to Reduce College Student Drinking and Cannabis Use
Recruiting
College students' risky drinking and cannabis use are major public health problems. The harms associated with risky drinking have been well-documented (such as deaths, blackouts, injuries, assaults, arrests, sexual consequences, academic consequences). Both college health administrators and parents have requested electronic parent-based interventions (e-PBIs) with additional content on cannabis. Parents have demonstrated ample motivation to communicate with their teens. The proposed research wil... Read More

Safety and Efficacy of Oral Testosterone Undecanoate Followed by Enzalutamide as Therapy for Men With Metastatic Castrate Resistant Prostate Cancer
Recruiting
Previous studies of high dose testosterone therapy given intramuscularly to men with metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer suggest that high serum levels of testosterone may be required for clinical response. This injection regimen was given as one dose of 400mg injection every 28 days, which initially produces high serum testosterone levels but these levels drop to a varying degree in some men over the 28-day cycle. In this 30 patient trial will analyze the effects of oral testosterone... Read More

Managed Problem Solving for ART Adherence and HIV Care Retention Delivered by Community Health Workers
Recruiting
The Managed Problem Solving (MAPS) behavioral intervention is an EBP for behavior change in people living with HIV (PLWH). The investigators propose that MAPS can be delivered by trained Community Health Workers (CHWs). The use of CHWs to deliver MAPS is justified by their ability to develop trusting relationships with their clients and the need for task shifting in busy clinics. In order to also address retention in care, the investigators will adapt MAPS to also focus on problem solving activi... Read More

A Study of Pemigatinib in Non-muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer Patients With Recurrent Low- or Intermediate-Risk Tumors
Recruiting
This phase II trial studies how well Pemigatinib (an orally administered inhibitor of fibroblast growth factor receptors 1, 2, and 3) works in non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) patients with recurrent tumors and a prior history of low- or intermediate-risk NMIBC tumors. Participants will receive pemigatinib for 4-6 weeks prior to standard of care transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT).

Protocol for Facilitating the Acquisition of Research Bone Marrow and Blood Samples
Recruiting
This clinical research protocol is intended to allow for bone marrow aspirate/biopsy and blood specimens to be collected for research purposes, specifically allowing subjects the option of sedation during the bone marrow procedure. Samples will be banked for future research related to cancer and other diseases. Researchers hope this protocol will improve the collection of research correlative and translational biopsy specimens for clinical research.

Testing Responses of Young Adults to Intervention Messages for Promoting Physical Activity Trial
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to test a precision (person-specific and context-sensitive) messaging algorithm for increasing physical activity and slowing weight gain in insufficiently-active young adults. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does physical activity increase more when text messages are sent based on a precision rule for selecting and timing messages compared to when the same message content is selected and sent at random or not at all? * Do biological or social chara...
