Pilot RCT: FQHC Intervention for Uptake of CGM in Hispanic Adults with T1D
Recruiting
Hispanics adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D), despite their disproportionate burden of acute complications (hypoglycemia and diabetes ketoacidosis) and related emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and death, remain largely disenfranchised from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), an efficacious technology to mitigate these inequities. To increase CGM uptake in low-income, Hispanic adults with T1D receiving diabetes management in federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), this pilot ran... Read More

Clinical Application of Stem Cell Educator Therapy in Type 1 Diabetes
Recruiting
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease that causes a deficit of pancreatic islet beta cells. Millions of individuals worldwide have T1D, and incidence increases annually. Several recent clinical trials point to the need for an approach that produces comprehensive immune modulation at both the local pancreatic and systemic levels. Stem Cell Educator (SCE) therapy offers comprehensive immune modulation at both the local and systemic levels in T1D by using a patient's own imm... Read More

Pathogenesis of Kidney Disease in Type 1 Diabetes: a Modern Kidney Biopsy Cohort (The PANDA Study)
Recruiting
Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) occurs in up to 40% of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D), often leading to kidney failure and markedly magnifying risks of cardiovascular disease and premature death. Landmark T1D kidney biopsy studies identified the classic pathological lesions of DKD, which have been attributed largely to hyperglycemia. Recent advances in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and automated insulin delivery have facilitated improved glycemic control, but the residual risk of DKD cont... Read More

Impact of MEnstruation on Glycemic Response and Exercise In Females With Type 1 Diabetes
Recruiting
The objectives of this study are to examine how sex hormones (use of hormonal birth control, menstrual cycle phase) impact glycemic control among women with type 1 diabetes (T1D), and to test adjustments to insulin dosing and food intake to ameliorate cycle-related glycemic variability. A secondary aim is to examine how the menstrual cycle and use of hormonal birth control impact patient-reported outcomes and glycemic responses to physical activity.

Social Media Use in Adolescent Diabetes Care
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the feasibility of a social media intervention to support diabetes management in adolescents with type 1 diabetes.
Adolescent participants will be randomized to receive diabetes education and peer support over Instagram or to usual outpatient diabetes care. Researchers will assess whether the social media intervention is feasible. In addition, the study team will also explore and compare changes in glucose levels and person-reported outcomes betwee... PRenatal and Obstetric Maternal Exposures and ISlet Autoantibodies in Early Life
Recruiting
This research study is called 'PRenatal and Obstetric Maternal Exposures and ISlet Autoantibodies in Early Life: The PROMISE Study'. The purpose of this study is to find out more about how exposures during pregnancy, such as having an infection, diet and growth may impact later risk of type 1 diabetes (TID) and islet autoimmunity in the child. We are also interested in finding out more about why having a father or sibling with T1D increases risk of autoimmunity in the child more than having a mo... Read More

Group Visits for High Risk Type 1 Diabetes (T1D)
Recruiting
The investigators propose to conduct a pilot prospective cohort study to assess the impact of shared medical appointments (SMA) visits in underserved youth with poorly controlled type 1 diabetes (T1D). The trial will employ an enrollment visit, SMA visits every 3 months over a 12 month study period, followed by a 6-month observational period to assess feasibility and acceptability of SMA and the impact on glycemic control, self-management skills, and health related quality of life.
