Sublingual Dexmedetomidine for Treating Opioid Withdrawal
Recruiting
A major challenge to seeking treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) is the withdrawal symptoms associated with cessation of opioid use. The signs and symptoms of opioid withdrawal include irritability, anxiety, muscular and abdominal pains, chills, nausea, diarrhea, yawning, runny eyes and nose, sweating, sneezing, weakness, and insomnia. The current gold standard of treatment involves a gradual reduction of the opioid drug dosage (tapering). However, as all opioids have potential for abuse and... Read More

A Study of Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) Without Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) in People With Unfavorable Intermediate-Risk Prostate Cancer
Recruiting
The researchers are doing this study to find out if stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) without androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is an effective treatment approach for people with unfavorable intermediate-risk prostate. The researchers will see whether SBRT can prevent participants' cancer from coming back and/or spreading to other parts of the body. In addition, they will look closely at how safe and effective it is to rely on Decipher test results for determining which patients would... Read More

Clinical Trials of Multivalent Opioid Vaccine Components
Recruiting
Currently, abuse of prescription opioid analgesics and heroin is a serious problem in the U.S. Although several medications, including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone, are available and effective in treating opioid use disorder (OUD), long-term relapse rates remain high. The current study is designed to examine a new approach to treating OUD, namely use of a vaccine targeted against oxycodone \[Oxy(Gly)4-sKLH\], one of the most commonly abused prescription opioids. The vaccination appro... Read More

Assessment of Healing and Function After Reconstruction Surgery for Bone Sarcomas
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to look at the amount of function that returns in participants that have reconstruction with bone graft or artificial device and in participants who have tumor surgery plus regenerative osseous surgery. The study will look at the level of function for a period of 3 years after the surgery. Another purpose of this study is to look at how well the bone heals in participants undergoing regenerative surgery

Efficacy and Safety of VDPHL01 in Males With AGA
Recruiting
This study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of VDPHL01 in male subjects with Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA). AGA (or male pattern baldness) is a genetic disorder caused by an excessive (too much) hair follicle response to androgens (hormone) that causes hair loss. VDPHL01 8.5 mg Tablet is an investigational oral drug to treat male pattern baldness. This multi-center, double blind, study will last about 13 months and includes 11 study visits (screening, baseline (day 1), week 2, month 1, mont... Read More

Renal Denervation + PVI vs PVI Alone for Persistent AF
Recruiting
Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is the cornerstone of ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF). Increased cardiac sympathetic stimulation can facilitate AF and reduction can be accomplished by renal artery denervation (RDN). The recently completed randomized trial, ERADICATE-AF, convincingly demonstrated that RDN plus PVI resulted in a reduction in recurrent incident AF for uncontrolled hypertensives. This is a randomized controlled pilot trial, "To Evaluate Renal Artery Denervation in Addition to... Read More

Project Talk Trial: Engaging Underserved Communities in End-of-life Conversations
Recruiting
Compared to the general population, individuals from underserved communities are more likely to receive low quality end-of-life care and unwanted, costly and burdensome treatments due in part to a lack of advance care planning (ACP; the process of discussing wishes for end-of-life care with loved ones/clinicians and documenting them in advance directives). This study will use existing, trusted, and respected social networks to evaluate two conversation-based tools intended to engage underserved... Read More

Radiation Therapy With Protons or Photons in Treating Patients With Liver Cancer
Recruiting
This phase III trial studies how well radiation therapy with protons works compared with photons in treating patients with liver cancer. Radiation therapy, such as photon therapy, uses high energy x-rays to send the radiation inside the body to the tumor while proton therapy uses a beam of proton particles. Proton therapy can stop shortly after penetrating through the tumor and may cause less damage to the surrounding healthy organs and result in better survival in patients with liver cancer.
