Pennsylvania is currently home to 3310 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Hershey and Allentown. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
Functional and Structural Assessment of Endobronchial Valve Recipients Using Dynamic Hyperpolarized Xenon-129 MRI
Recruiting
This study proposes to use hyperpolarized xenon-129 Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to study lung function of COPD patients who will receive endobronchial valve (EBV) therapy as part of their clinical standard-of-care. Once inhaled, HP xenon can provide information to imagers regarding functionality across specific regions of the lungs through the assessment of the replacement of air during the normal breathing cycle, how much oxygen is in the airspaces, and if the normal spongy tissue structur... ONE PATH: Optimizing Nutrition Education for Parents and Teachers for Healthy Growth
Recruiting
This proposal uses an innovative methodological framework, the multiphase optimization strategy (MOST), to design an effective and efficient responsive feeding (RF) intervention that promotes child appetite self-regulation among a high-risk sample: families with preschoolers living in rural poverty. The principles of MOST emphasize efficiency, allowing identification of the most efficacious intervention components (i.e., components that contribute to treatment effects) while minimizing participa... Optimal Perioperative Pain Control in Minimally Invasive Abdominal Cancer Surgery
Recruiting
This is a research study to evaluate the effectiveness of 3 different types of routine pain management regimens used during clinically indicated, minimally invasive oncologic (cancer) surgery. This project is considered "Research" and participation is voluntary. Upon enrollment in this study, the research team will collect data from the patient's medical records. The patient will undergo all of the normal testing and procedures required pre-operatively (standard of care). The study team will the... Read More

Transient Receptor Potential Channels
Recruiting
Neurovascular signaling in the skin associated with stimulation of the transient receptor potential (TRP) channels. These channels are stimulated by both temperature and naturally occurring bioactive agents found in mint, chili peppers, garlic, etc. The aim of the study is to examine how topically applied TRP channel agonists including menthol, capsaicin and camphor impact neurovascular responses in the skin.

Sodium Glucose Co-transporter (SGLT) Inhibitors in Nonobstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if sotagliflozin, a dual SGLT1 and SGLT2 inhibitor, works to treat symptomatic, nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (noHCM) in adult patients. It will also learn about the safety of sotagliflozin in this patient population. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Will sotagliflozin be well tolerated in patients with nonobstructive HCM? 2. Will sotaglifozin improve exercise capacity, diastolic dysfunction and/or physical functioning in pati... Read More

Cooling Strategies for Older Adults in the Heat
Recruiting
The earth's climate is warming, and the number of heat waves has increased in recent years. At the same time, the number of adults over the age of 65 is growing. Humans sweat and increase blood flow to the skin to cool their body when they get hot. Older adults do not do this as well as young adults. This makes it harder to safely be in warm and/or humid conditions. It is important to learn about cooling strategies for older adults to safely be in warm and/or humid conditions. There is compelli... Read More

A Study of Ivaltinostat Plus Capecitabine or Capecitabine in Metastatic Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma
Recruiting
This study is a Phase 1b/2, dose-escalation, randomized, multicenter study to assess the efficacy, safety, tolerability, and PK of ivaltinostat in combination with capecitabine and capecitabine monotherapy in patients with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma whose disease has not progressed on a first line fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy (e.g., FOLFIRINOX). In Phase 1b, 3 dose levels of ivaltinostat will be studied in combination with a fixed dose of capecitabine to determine the RP2D of i... Read More

Time-in-bed Restriction in Older Adults With Sleep Difficulties With and Without Risk for Alzheimer's Disease
Recruiting
Dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease affects approximately 5.6 million adults over age 65, with costs expected to rise from $307 billion to $1.5 trillion over the next 30 years. Behavioral interventions have shown promise for mitigating neurodegeneration and cognitive impairments. Sleep is a modifiable health behavior that is critical for cognition and deteriorates with advancing age and Alzheimer's disease. Thus, it is a priority to examine whether improving sleep modifies Alzheimer's disease... Read More

Verapamil for Neuroprotection in Stroke
Recruiting
The purpose of this research study is to test an experimental procedure called intra-arterial delivery of verapamil in patients diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke. This study investigates the safety of intra-arterial delivery of verapamil, a drug used to treat vasospasm (spasm of a blood vessel), and how it affects recovery from stroke. Recruitment is limited to patients that have received mechanical thrombectomy as standard of care.

The Lily Device Trial
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to test if the Lily Device works to reduce chemotherapy induced hair loss in patients. It will also learn about the safety of the Lily Device. The main questions it aims to answer is: * Do patient preserve their hair using the Lily Device after 4 cycles of chemotherapy, when hair preservation is a Grade ≤1 graded by an independent healthcare professional on the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE)? * What is the subject incidence of Grade 1 o...
