Pennsylvania is currently home to 3293 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Hershey and Allentown. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
A Vaccine Trial for Low Grade Gliomas
Recruiting
The study will assess the immunogenicity, safety and preliminary clinical efficacy of the glioma associated antigen (GAA)/tetanus toxoid (TT) peptide vaccine and poly-ICLC in HLA-A2+ children with unresectable low-grade gliomas that have received at least two chemotherapy/biologic regimens. Radiation therapy counts as one biologic regimen, but patients may not have received radiation to the index lesion within 1 year of enrollment.

Steroid-sparing Therapy (Olanzapine) Versus Dexamethasone-based Therapy for Chemotherapy-induced Nausea and Vomiting
Recruiting
The purpose of this research is to compare two drugs that are routinely used as standard of care for treating nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy. This study aims to see if the drug olanzapine is as good as the steroid drug dexamethasone for preventing nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy. Both drugs are listed as appropriate treatment options in the most recent version of National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines on Antiemesis.

Prospective Investigation of Multiple Sclerosis in the Three Rivers Region
Recruiting
In this longitudinal prospective natural history study of multiple sclerosis (MS), the overarching goal is to understand the factors that influence individual variation in disease trajectory and treatment response and pave the way for realizing precision medicine in MS. Because MS is a chronic neurological disorder, this observational cohort study will span a 30-year time frame.

Evaluating the Use of Peer Specialists to Deliver Cognitive Behavioral Social Skills Training
Recruiting
The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is advocating that Veterans with serious mental illness (SMI) receive recovery-oriented, rehabilitation approaches that target real-world functioning. One such approach is Cognitive-Behavioral Social Skills Training (CBSST). Unlike traditional cognitive-behavioral therapy, CBSST is a more recovery-oriented psychosocial rehabilitation intervention that teaches Veterans with SMI to correct errors in thinking and build social skills. While effective, CBSST h... Read More

A Registry for BRCA Mutation Carriers With Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to better understand why pancreatic cancer develops in some people who are known carriers of the gene mutation (an abnormality) called BRCA, or its close relative PALB2. The investigators hope to do this by establishing a BRCA/PALB2 mutation carriers Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma (the common form of pancreatic cancer) Registry. A registry is a database of information.

Conduit Cages and Fibergraft BG Putty
Recruiting
The Conduit cages are intended to restore the intervertebral height and to facilitate the intervertebral body fusion in the cervical and lumbar spine in skeletally mature patients with degenerative disc disease and instabilities at one or more levels of the spine. The Fibergraft Bioactive Glass (BG) is engineered to mimic the body's natural bone healing process. While previous studies have described the use of conduit cages in interbody fixation procedures, these studies did not specifically stu... Read More
