There are currently 100 active clinical trials seeking participants for Asthma research studies. The states with the highest number of trials for Autism participants are California, Texas, Florida and Ontario.
A Study of Patients With Chronic Disease
Recruiting
TARGET-RWE is a 10-year, international, longitudinal, observational study of patients with chronic disease designed to specifically address important clinical questions that remain incompletely answered from registration trials. The protocol will follow a master protocol design in which a shared study infrastructure supports progressive development of the registry across the spectrum of chronic diseases.

Mechanisms of Interferon Gamma-primed Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs) for Moderate-to-severe Persistent Asthma
Recruiting
This study is a two strata, dose escalation Phase I clinical trial designed to assess the safety and determine the maximal tolerated dose (MTD) of allogenic cord tissue derived MSCs (cMSCs, stratum 1) and allogeneic, interferon-γ primed bone marrow MSCs (γMSCs, stratum 2). Each stratum is designed to independently accrue 3 children at a dose level 1 of 2x106 cells/kg and 6 children at dose level 2 of 10x106 cells/kg, resulting in 9 children in each stratum. The primary objectives are to determin... Read More

Physical Activity Intervention for Black Women With Asthma
Recruiting
Physical inactivity is associated with poor asthma control and quality of life, and greater health care utilization. Rates of physical inactivity, asthma, and asthma mortality among Black women are higher than those of their White counterparts. Our formative work identified barriers to PA among Black women with asthma including a lack of social support, self-efficacy, unsafe neighborhood and fear related to experiences with life-threatening asthma exacerbations. Given the unique barriers to PA a... Read More

Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonist in the Treatment of Adult, Obesity-related, Symptomatic Asthma (GATA-3)
Recruiting
This is a randomized placebo-controlled trial of semaglutide, an FDA-approved therapy for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity, in adults with symptomatic asthma despite the use of inhaled steroids and with excess body weight. This study will test the central hypothesis that semaglutide will improve asthma control and reduce airway inflammation due to direct effects on the respiratory tract in adult asthma associated with obesity.

Primary Care Implementation and Evaluation of Coach McLungs
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to evaluate the implementation of the Coach McLungsSM shared decision making (SDM) intervention into primary care across a large healthcare system. Coach McLungsSM is a virtual evidence-based asthma intervention with built-in asthma education and clinical decision support. All asthma patients aged 5-17 who attend these practices will be assessed for uncontrolled asthma. Asthma exacerbations attributed to emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and oral steroid us... Read More

Addressing Quality of Life, Clinical Outcomes, and Mechanisms in Uncontrolled Asthma Following the DASH Dietary Pattern
Recruiting
The goal of the ALOHA trial is to investigate the efficacy of improved diet quality following a DASH behavioral intervention that has shown promising results in adults with uncontrolled asthma. DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. This healthy diet is known to help people with high blood pressure manage their health. But physicians do not know if the DASH diet can also benefit patients with uncontrolled asthma. Researchers in the ALOHA study are trying to find out the answer... Read More

Microglia Activation in Asthma
Recruiting
The primary purpose of this study is to provide preliminary data to determine if an acute increase in airway inflammation, provoked by an inhaled allergen challenge, is associated with an increase in microglial activation and may inform whether individuals with asthma, in the long-term, are at increased risk for neurodegeneration, cognitive decline, and forms of dementia. Though in the long-term airway inflammation may be associated with neurodegenerative processes, these changes reflect the acc... Read More

Advancing Health Information Exchange (HIE) During Inter-hospital Transfer (IHT) to Improve Patient Outcomes
Recruiting
Sub-optimal transfer of clinical information during inter-hospital transfer (IHT, the transfer of patients between acute care hospitals) is common and can lead to patient harm. To address this problem, the investigators will use key stakeholder input to refine and implement an interoperable health information exchange platform that integrates with the electronic health record and improves the reliability of and access to necessary clinical information in three use cases involving transfer of pat...
