TabCAT Brain Health Assessment in Primary Care
Recruiting
Efficient and user-friendly paradigms to detect cognitive impairment, including dementia are needed in primary care. The TabCAT Brain Health Assessment accurately detects cognitive impairment via an appealing tablet interface with automated scoring and EMR integration. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of the paradigm on detection rates and other brain health outcomes via a pragmatic cluster randomized trial in 26 Kaiser Southern California primary care clinics.

Caring for Caregivers and People Living With Dementia Under Home-Based Primary Care
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to develop a dementia care intervention for persons receiving home-based primary care (HBPC) and living with dementia (PLWD) and their caregivers, and test the feasibility of implementing the intervention in HBPC practices to ultimately improve outcomes of PLWD and their caregivers.
The main aims are to:
Develop and refine HBPC Dementia Care Quality at Home
Establish feasibility (primary outcome), acceptability, and fidelity of HBPC Dementia Care Quality at H... Read More

Care Coordination System for People With Dementia
Recruiting
Dementia, a chronic disease of aging, is characterized by progressive cognitive decline that interferes with independent functioning. The medical, psychological, social and functional sequelae of dementia cause great stress to patients, their caregivers, and their family. The investigator proposes to examine effectivness of a home-based care coordination and management device, called Care4AD to help caregivers effectively coordinate, manage, and improve dementia care.

Noninvasive Brain Stimulation in Mild Cognitive Impairment and Dementia
Recruiting
The research objective of this study is to examine the efficacy of HD-tDCS to the preSMA/DACC region and its influence on verbal episodic memory in patients with MCI or dementia after 10 sessions of HD-tDCS. There will be three treatment arms: two active HD-tDCS (1 mA or 2 mA) and a sham group. A verbal episodic memory task will be completed at baseline, immediately following the last HD-tDCS session, and a 2-month follow-up.

First-in-Human Evaluation of an Astrocytic Glutamate Transporter (EAAT2) PET Tracer in Dementia
Recruiting
This is a first in human study that will assess the safety and diagnostic performance of [18F]RP-115 (fluorine-18 labeled RP115), a positron emission tomography (PET) agent. This agent has the potential to identify the early changes that occur in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

Clinical Applications of Advanced Ophthalmic Imaging
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to determine the clinical application of advanced ophthalmic imaging devices such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), retinal function imager (RFI), slit-lamp biomicroscopy (SLB), PERG in diseased eyes and normal controls.
There are two phases in this study. The first phase is an observational phase which studies the eye in various conditions. The second phase is an interventional phase which studies the changes in the eyes after taking an over-the-counter medica... Read More

Cultural Adaptation of a Behavioral Intervention for Latino Caregivers
Recruiting
The overall objectives of the proposed research are to: (i) develop a prototype of a smartphone application (app) that can deliver culturally adapted STAR-C training to Latino caregivers, and (ii) understand the extent to which a STAR-C app is acceptable and potentially effective among Latino caregivers. Achieving these objectives will lay the groundwork for a future full-scale trial to test the STAR-C app with Latino caregivers.
This study aims to: Adapt the STAR-C training to increase cultura... Read More

Cognitive Outcomes of Brain Stimulation As a Later-in-Life Treatment
Recruiting
This is a pilot study being done to attempt to improve episodic memory problems in persons with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia. The pre-supplemental motor area (preSMA) and dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) have been shown to play a role in episodic memory and language retrieval. Prior studies have suggested that neurostimulation targeting this region can improve episodic memory and word recall. The purpose of this study is to examine the efficacy of high-definition transcrani... Read More
