Persons With Dementia and Their Extended Family Caregivers
Recruiting
Immediate family members shoulder the majority of care responsibilities for persons living with dementia. However, due to various societal changes, elder care responsibilities have expanded to extended family members, including grandchildren, siblings, nieces/nephews, siblings, and step-kin. The main objective of this study is to understand the caregiving journeys of various extended family members involved in dementia care. We aim to learn about caregivers' care management strategies; their us... Read More

Tennessee Alzheimer's Project
Recruiting
The primary objective of the Vanderbilt Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (VADRC) is to provide local and national researchers with access to a well-characterized and diverse clinical cohort, including participant referrals, biosamples, clinical data, and neuroimaging data. The VADRC Clinical Core will create an infrastructure to support research efforts of both local and national investigator studies to develop early detection, prevention, and treatment strategies for Alzheimer's disease. TabCAT Brain Health Assessment in Primary Care
Recruiting
Efficient and user-friendly paradigms to detect cognitive impairment, including dementia are needed in primary care. The TabCAT Brain Health Assessment accurately detects cognitive impairment via an appealing tablet interface with automated scoring and EMR integration. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of the paradigm on detection rates and other brain health outcomes via a pragmatic cluster randomized trial in 26 Kaiser Southern California primary care clinics.

Care Coordination System for People With Dementia
Recruiting
Dementia, a chronic disease of aging, is characterized by progressive cognitive decline that interferes with independent functioning. The medical, psychological, social and functional sequelae of dementia cause great stress to patients, their caregivers, and their family. The investigator proposes to examine effectivness of a home-based care coordination and management device, called Care4AD to help caregivers effectively coordinate, manage, and improve dementia care.

Apolipoprotein E (APOE) Genotype Effects on Triglycerides and Blood Flow in the Human Brain
Recruiting
High fat feeding (HFF) increases the risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) but individuals who carry the AD risk gene E4 paradoxically improve after acute HFF. The investigators propose to further study this phenomenon with a clinical study to assess cerebral blood flow which can be measured by a technique called arterial spin labeling (ASL) on an MRI and is tightly related to brain metabolism.

New IDEAS: Imaging Dementia-Evidence for Amyloid Scanning Study
Recruiting
New IDEAS is an observational, open-label, longitudinal cohort study designed to address the requirements of the CED provisions of the NCD on beta-amyloid PET. Building on the initial Imaging Dementia-Evidence for Amyloid Scanning (IDEAS) study, New IDEAS will evaluate the association between amyloid PET and patient-centered outcomes in an expanded and more ethnoracially and clinically diverse group of Medicare participants presenting with cognitive impairment.

NiteCAPP: Web-based Interventions for Insomnia in Rural Dementia Caregivers
Recruiting
The goal of this project evaluate the efficacy of NiteCAPP in improving insomnia in a rural dementia caregiver sample (n of 100 caregiver and PWD dyads). We will measure both the short term (post-treatment) and long term (6 and 12 months) effects of the intervention on CG sleep, arousal, inflammation, health, mood, burden and cognitive function, and PWD sleep.

Enhancing Sleep Quality for Nursing Home Residents With Dementia - R33 Phase
Recruiting
This study seeks to improve clinical outcomes for an important, growing, and vulnerable population-nursing home residents with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias-by testing an evidence-based intervention to improve these residents' sleep. It will also examine the implementation and sustainment of this intervention.

Alzheimer's Disease Genetics Study
Recruiting
The purpose of the Alzheimer's Disease Genetics Study is to identify the genes that are responsible for causing Alzheimer's Disease (AD). One of the ways in which the risk factor genes for late onset AD can be investigated is by identifying and collecting genetic material from families with multiple members diagnosed with AD or dementia.
