Testing the Impact of Smartphone-based Messaging to Support Young Adult Smoking Cessation
Recruiting
Clinical practice guidelines for smoking cessation emphasize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients develop coping strategies for urges. Mindfulness or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) offer a different approach, which teaches smokers psychological flexibility through accepting negative experiences. While there is evidence for the efficacy of both CBT and Mindfulness/ACT smoking cessation interventions, it is unclear if these approaches are efficacious when implemented in rea... Read More

Subscap Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty
Recruiting
The subscapularis is part of the rotator cuff and is release as part of a reverse shoulder replacement. The decision to repair this tendon is controversial. This research is being done to help determine if rotator cuff repair improves or hinders shoulder replacement. A worrisome but rare complication after shoulder replacement is dislocation. Rotator cuff repair may help reduce this risk. The repair may hinder some of the range of motion afterwards or could help with internal rotation strength.... Read More

Characterization of an Optically Pumped Magnetometer (OPM) Magnetoencephalography (MEG) Array
Recruiting
Background:
Brain activity produces magnetic fields. These fields can be measured outside the head. Existing technology, called MEG, measures these fields. Researchers are testing a new type of magnetic field sensor called OPM. They hope it can help pinpoint with very high accuracy where brain activity is generated.
Objective:
To develop and test a new type of sensor for measuring the magnetic fields produced by brain activity.
Eligibility:
Healthy people ages 18-65 who had a magnetic reson... Read More

Measuring the Effects of Talazoparib in Patients With Advanced Cancer and DNA Repair Variations
Recruiting
This phase II trial studies if talazoparib works in patients with cancer that may have spread from where it first started to nearby tissue, lymph nodes, or distant parts of the body (advanced) and has mutation(s) in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage response genes who have or have not already been treated with another PARP inhibitor. Talazoparib is an inhibitor of PARP, a protein that helps repair damaged DNA. Blocking PARP may help keep cancer cells from repairing their damaged DNA, causing th... Read More
