Blood Flow Restriction Therapy in Achilles Injury
Recruiting
Blood flow restriction (BFR) therapy is a brief and partial restriction of venous outflow of an extremity during low load resistance exercises. It is a safe and effective method of improving strength in healthy and active individuals, recovering from orthopedic pathologies and procedures. This prospective, randomized study will look at the implications this form of treatment has on the rehabilitation of Achilles injuries.

PLAN: Dementia Literacy Education and Navigation for Korean Elders With Probable Dementia and Their Caregivers
Recruiting
Studies have shown that ethnic-racial minority elders are more likely to be neglected from appropriate dementia care in time than the white counterparts. Among minorities group, Korean Americans (KAs) are the 4th largest and one of the most rapidly growing Asian subpopulations and have been characterized as under-resourced and underserved population of dementia care. This research is being done to understand how an education and navigation support program led by trained community health workers... Read More

The Genetics and Functional Basis of Inherited Platelet, White Blood Cell, Red Blood Cell, and Blood Clotting Disorders.
Recruiting
Blood contains red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, as well as a fluid portion termed plasma. We primarily study blood platelets, but sometimes we also analyze the blood of patients with red blood cell disorders (such as sickle cell disease), white blood cell disorders, and disorders of the blood clotting factors found in plasma. Blood platelets are small cell fragments that help people stop bleeding after blood vessels are damaged. Some individuals have abnormalities in their blo... Read More
