These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Baltimore, Bethesda, Rockville and Annapolis. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
Determinants of Resistance to Endocrine Therapy and a Cyclin-dependent Kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4/6) Inhibitor for HR+ MBC
Recruiting
The goal of this research study is to determine if the investigators can predict which participants will respond to endocrine therapy and a cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4/6) inhibitor for metastatic breast cancer and which participants will not. Investigators will use information from the tumor tissue and serial blood samples. Investigators hope that a deeper understanding of which participants will respond to this combination and how resistance emerges will allow the investigators to be... Read More

A Study of Different Programs to Help ALL Patients With Taking Maintenance Medicine at Home
Recruiting
This clinical trial tests different programs to help patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) remember to take their medications during maintenance therapy at home. One problem with ALL maintenance treatment is remembering to take medicines at home like patients are supposed to. In maintenance, a medicine called 6-mercaptopurine or "6MP" is taken by mouth every day at home. In this study, 6MP prescriptions are filled into a special medication bottle called MEMS® which is fitted with a sp... Read More

Night Owl Metabolism
Recruiting
The proposed study uses a novel and rigorous randomized cross-over study design in youth (17-23y) with late and non-late chronotype (n=35 per group) to assess the glycemic effect of "aligning" an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) or first-meal of day to a subject's chronotype. Both groups will undergo 2 OGTTs (aligned and mis-aligned with chronotype) to compare glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity within-subject (primary outcome) and between groups (Aim 1). Then, youth will also undergo tw... Read More

MRgFUS Pallidotomy for the Treatment of Task Specific Focal Hand Dystonia (TSFD)
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and effectiveness of MRI-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) for treating task specific focal hand dystonias (TSFD). TSFD is a type of dystonia that affects hand movements during specific tasks such as writing, playing instruments or typing, often causing involuntarily movements or cramping.

Transcutaneous Spinal Cord Stimulation in Children with Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury
Recruiting
Aim 1: Determine the safety and feasibility of administration of TSCS to children in a clinical setting. Participants will be randomly assigned to experimental (TSCS) or control (sham stimulation) groups. Both groups will receive eight-weeks of individualized gait training. We will measure adverse events, including pain and skin irritation, to determine safety as the primary outcome. Hypothesis 1: Administration of TSCS to children in a clinical setting will be safe based on similar safety outco... Read More

Outpatient Buprenorphine Induction With Psilocybin for Opioid Use Disorder
Recruiting
This study will examine the effect of a single high dose of psilocybin therapy (30 mg) versus a very low dose (1 mg) as an adjunctive therapy to individuals undergoing standard-of-care outpatient buprenorphine treatment for Opioid use disorder (OUD). The participants will have previously undergone buprenorphine induction before. Effects of adjunctive psilocybin will be determined for longitudinal outcomes of opioid abstinence, compliance with outpatient buprenorphine maintenance, quality of life... Read More

Safety of Erythropoietin and Melatonin for Very Preterm Infants With Intraventricular Hemorrhage
Recruiting
Very preterm infants are prone to numerous medical complications with lifelong impact. Amongst the most serious are significant intraventricular hemorrhage (sIVH) and the subsequent progression to posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH). Currently, the only treatment for PHH is surgery, most commonly with shunts that are prone to malfunction across the lifespan. Preclinical data show that melatonin (MLT) and erythropoietin (EPO), when administered in a sustained dosing regimen, can prevent the hallm... Read More

Clinical Trial Evaluating the Safety, Tolerability and Preliminary Efficacy of BNT116 Alone and in Combinations in Patients With Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Recruiting
This First-in-human (FIH) trial for BNT116 aims to establish the safety profile and a safe dose for BNT116 monotherapy as well as for BNT116 in combination with other therapies (cemiplimab, docetaxel, or a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 \[CTLA4\] antibody \[another investigational medicinal product\]) in patients with advanced or metastasized non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and unresectable NSCLC after chemoradiotherapy (CRT). CBL0137 for the Treatment of Relapsed or Refractory Solid Tumors, Including CNS Tumors and Lymphoma
Recruiting
This phase I/II trial evaluates the best dose, side effects and possible benefit of CBL0137 in treating patients with solid tumors, including central nervous system (CNS) tumors or lymphoma that has come back (relapsed) or does not respond to treatment (refractory). Drugs, such as CBL0137, block signals passed from one molecule to another inside a cell. Blocking these signals can affect many functions of the cell, including cell division and cell death, and may kill cancer cells.
