Lay-Delivered Behavioral Activation in Senior Centers
Recruiting
In response to large numbers of senior center clients who suffer untreated depression and the dearth of geriatric mental health providers, the investigators have simplified Behavioral Activation to be delivered by lay volunteers ("Do More, Feel Better"; DMFB). The focus of Behavioral Activation is to guide clients to reengage in daily pleasant and rewarding activities, and reduce depressive symptoms. If the investigators can show that the lay delivery model has positive impact in comparison to M... Read More

A Sociolinguistic-enabled Web Application to Develop Precision Health Intervention for African Americans
Recruiting
This pilot study will explore the preliminary efficacy of a colorectal cancer (CRC) screening intervention delivered by virtual health assistants (VHAs). Participants will include 750 African American patients in the US between the ages of 45 and 75 recruited through Qualtrics panels. The main research question is: How does the integration of different levels of dialect density of the linguistic features of African American English (AAE) influence the perceived credibility of a Black VHA. Four t... Read More

Effects of MRSA Bactericidal Gel To Promote Healing and Eliminate MRSA in cSSTI Vancogel(TM)
Recruiting
Based on personal experience and the literature it is reasonable expectation that Vancomycin is a viable treatment in a direct contact form to eliminate MRSA from open wounds in order to heal the wounds by conventional means. The key question in my research has been to measure the effectiveness of my Vancomycin Gel by culturing the wound, applying the Gel in a controlled manner and then culturing the wound after one week. The end point to achieve in the process, is a clinical response of acceler... Read More

Comparing Meniscal Repair Biologic Augmentation: Marrow Venting Procedure Versus PRP (MVP Trial)
Recruiting
There are no current or past RCT comparing biologic augments for meniscal repair. There is good data supporting both the use of BMVP of the intercondylar notch and intra-articular PRP injections for augmentation of meniscal repair. However, the effectiveness of these augmentation methods with respect to each other has never been investigated. The knowledge gained will allow us to potentially influence and adapt protocols to treat this particular patient population. Additionally, resources availa... Read More

The Path Study: Cognitive and Inflammation Targeted Gut-brain Interventions in Alcohol; Probiotics, Alcohol, Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation, and HIV Study
Recruiting
This project uses a hybrid trial design to evaluate two biomedical interventions targeting the gut-brain axis. One intervention is portable Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulator, tVNS, that is hypothesized to stimulate the autonomic nervous system, resulting in decreased inflammation and improved cognition. The second intervention is a probiotic supplement intended to replace gut bacteria that are associated with dysbiosis in persons with HIV and alcohol consumption.
