Colorado is currently home to 1912 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Denver, Aurora, Colorado Springs and Englewood. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
Oesophageal Protection Study: A Multicentre Study.
Recruiting
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common debilitating heart rhythm condition that can cause heart failure and negatively impact a patient's outlook in terms of symptoms and disability. It is an irregular fast heart rhythm disorder coming from the top chamber of the heart (left atrium). Catheter ablation treatment has been shown to be effective in controlling or eliminating AF and its associated symptoms. This is now a common and effective treatment option for patients suffering with AF. During ablat... Read More

Activity Restrictions After Inguinal Hernia Repair
Recruiting
This research is intended to be a pilot study to identify differences in outcomes for varied lifting and physical activity precautions following surgical repair of single-sided inguinal hernias. The researchers hypothesize that when given the autonomy to return to activity at the patient's discretion, convalescence will decrease in comparison to a control group given specific precautions to refrain from lifting and strenuous activity. Specific aims include differences in convalescence and surgic... Read More

Comparing Electrical Impedance Tomography to Computed Tomographic Angiography
Recruiting
The study aim is to determine whether electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is equivalent in the detection of pulmomary emboli compared to Computed Tomographic Angiography (CTA). EIT is a non-invasive, non-ionizing functional imaging technique that can be performed at bedside. Electrical impedance tomography data will be collected on individuals undergoing a CTA scan of the chest at Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR). The primary outcome measure is to assess whether assessment by CTA correspond... Read More

Development and Evaluation of a Screening Approach for Sexual Dysfunction in AYA Patients With and Surviving Childhood Cancer
Recruiting
Prior research determined adolescent and young adult-aged childhood cancer survivor (AYA-CCS) and medical provider acceptability of the SexFS Brief in a controlled research setting. Development of an acceptable, effective, and feasible screening approach will result in improved recognition of SD in AYA patients with and surviving childhood cancer.

Nitrite-boosting Therapy for Improving Physiological Function in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease
Recruiting
Nitric oxide (NO) is an essential molecule in the body that is decreased in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), leading to reductions in vascular, movement ("motor") and cognitive functions. This study will determine if daily oral supplementation (3 months) with a supplement that increases NO in the body, i.e., nitrate-rich beetroot juice, improves vascular, motor and cognitive function in patients with CKD; this study will also provide insight into the biological reasons (mechanisms) by... Cannabis Observations on Brain Waves, Retrieval, and Attention: Experiment 1
Recruiting
This study investigates the impact of ∆9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) on recognition memory in healthy, regular cannabis users. Participants complete the same recognition memory task after self-administering one of three different strains of cannabis flower one day and while not intoxicated another day. Event-related potentials (ERPs) are measured via electroencephalogram (EEG) during the recognition memory task. Blood is collected to quantify THC and CBD exposure. Participan... Read More

Enhancing Exercise and Psychotherapy to Treat Pain and Addiction in Adults With an Opioid Use Disorder (EXPO; R33 Phase)
Recruiting
This work will involve conducting a randomized trial that will evaluate preliminary efficacy of "assisted" rate cycling, voluntary rate cycling and psychotherapy for pain individually and in combination as adjunctive treatments on cravings (primary outcome) in adults with an opioid use disorder. The investigators will also evaluate the effects of "assisted" rate cycling, voluntary rate cycling and I-STOP on secondary outcomes including depression, anxiety and sleep.

Acceptability and Efficacy of Pain Reprocessing Therapy in Racially/ Ethnically Diverse Adults With Chronic Back Pain
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn which treatment works better for adults with chronic pain. This study are comparing three treatments: Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and usual care (whatever a person is already doing to cope with their pain). The study's main questions are: Does PRT work well for adults with chronic pain? Which treatment works better for lowering pain: PRT, CBT, or usual care? This study will compare PRT, CBT, and usual care to... Read More

MitoQ and Exercise Effects on Vascular Health
Recruiting
An impairment in vascular function can lead to the development of age-associated cardiovascular disease (CVD), the leading cause of death in postmenopausal women. Regular aerobic exercise (AE) benefits vascular function in older men by reducing oxidative stress, however, similar AE training improvements are diminished or absent in postmenopausal women. not using estrogen-based hormone therapy. Vascular function and oxidative stress are improved with AE training in postmenopausal women treated wi... Read More
