Sex Disparities in Hypoxic Sympatholysis and Impact of Obesity
Recruiting
Patients with sleep apnea are at increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease - with women at potentially greater risk than men. Contributing mechanisms are not well understood, but may be related to how women respond to low oxygen and, given over 70% of patients with sleep apnea are obese, the impact of obesity. This project seeks to increase our understanding of mechanisms that may contribute to sex differences in the cardiovascular response to low oxygen with the hope that this knowled... Read More

Predicting Responsiveness in Oncology Patients Based on Host Response Evaluation During Anti Cancer Treatments, Using Multiomics
Recruiting
The goal of this exploratory study is understand the mechanisms of response to immunotherapy in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer patients. The investigators are going to search for correlation between specific biological features and response to immunotherapy, and to use those associations for developing an algorithm enabling to identify patients that could benefit from the immune check inhibitor based anti cancer treatment. Patients will provide biological samples before and during their treatment,... Read More

Selective PET Imaging of Astrocytes and Microglia in Alzheimer's Disease
Recruiting
Inflammation occurs in many brain diseases including Alzheimer's disease. In Alzheimer's disease, amyloid starts accumulating decades before the start of forgetfulness. Basic scientists have reported that inflammation but not amyloid is linked to forgetfulness. When people pinch a finger, it gets swollen. Similar changes occur in brain from various causes. New medications are under development to help healing and prevent permanent damages in the brain. When people pinch a finger, they can check... Read More

Dynamic Connectivity Under Metabolic Constraints
Recruiting
In this study, we investigate the impact of insulin resistance on the acceleration of brain aging, and test whether increased neuron insulin resistance can be counteracted by utilization of alternate metabolic pathways (e.g., ketones rather than glucose). This study has three Arms, which together provide synergistic data. For all three Arms, subjects are tested in a within-subjects design that consists of 2-3 testing sessions, 1-14 days apart, and counter-balanced for order. During each session... Read More

Estimated VO2Max Validation
Recruiting
In this study, the hypothesis being explored is that VO2Max and other CPET parameters can be accurately estimated from biosignals (namely, motion from accelerometers and cardiopulmonary variables from EKG) collected during activities of daily living using wearable biosensors worn by study participants. This study will aim to collect development and validation data for a machine learning algorithm and to evaluate the performance of the algorithm. A total of 300 participants will be enrolled inclu... Non-invasive BCI-controlled Assistive Devices
Recruiting
A brain-computer interface (BCI) decodes users' behavioral intentions or mental states directly from their brain activity, thus allowing operation of devices without requiring any overt motor action. One major modality for BCI control is based on motor imagery (MI), which is the mental rehearsal of the kinesthetics of a movement without actually performing it. MI-based BCIs translate motor intents into control commands for external devices. A major challenge in such BCIs is differentiating MI pa... Read More

Comparison of Quality and Quantity of M-PRP Cellular Content Filgrastim vs. Pegfilgrastim
Recruiting
The goal of this prospective, observational study is to compare the quality and quantity of the cellular content of platelet-rich plasma harvested after administering one of two cell-stimulating proteins, filgrastim and pegfilgrastim. The main question it aims to answer is: • Will participants have a similar cellular content when comparing a 4-day filgrastim treatment to a one-day pegfilgrastim treatment? Participants will have the following intervention administered: 130mL of blood will be d... Read More

Blood Collection for Development and Validation of Point-of-Care Diagnostic Liver Function Tests
Recruiting
This is an observational study exploring the performance of a novel point-of-care diagnostic testing platform designed to quantitate the presence of liver function biomarkers such as bilirubin. Blood samples will be collected from participants to further development and validation of the testing platform to support FDA review. The diagnostic device is intended to provide rapid in-office test results using a finger stick of blood, a reaction test device, and a smartphone app.
