Illinois is currently home to 2679 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Chicago, Peoria, Springfield and Urbana. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
I-SPY COVID-19 TRIAL: An Adaptive Platform Trial for Critically Ill Patients
Recruiting
The goal of this project is to rapidly screen promising agents, in the setting of an adaptive platform trial, for treatment of critically ill COVID-19 patients. In this phase 2 platform design, agents will be identified with a signal suggesting a big impact on reducing mortality and the need for, as well as duration, of mechanical ventilation.

The OPTIMIZE Study: Optimizing Patient Navigation for Perinatal Care
Recruiting
This study will develop and test an intervention, called OPTIMIZE, which includes the use of a perinatal checklist by clinic staff and provision of patient navigation support to African American pregnant women. Half of the clinics in the study will be assigned to the OPTIMIZE intervention and half will administer standard care.

Defining the Skin and Blood Biomarkers of Ichthyosis
Recruiting
Ichthyosis is a group of genetic skin disorders that present with dry, thickened, scaly, or flaky skin. As of today, there is no cure or treatment. Doctors can only treat the dry skin with different types of emollients to soften the scale. A deeper understanding of this disease is required to develop better treatments. There are different types of cells and cell-produced signals (biomarkers) that are being studied in order to help find these new treatments. Looking at biomarkers has been success... Read More

Musculoskeletal and Pelvic Floor Health in Female Chronic Overlapping Pelvic Pain Conditions
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to learn about nerve function and pelvic muscle function. To do this we will compare the pelvic nerve and muscle function of women with chronic pelvic pain to those who do not have chronic pelvic pain. Understanding the pain may lead to better treatments in the future.

A Hybrid Type II Trial of the Optimizing Resilience and Coping With HIV Through Internet Delivery in Ryan White Clinics in Chicago
Recruiting
Among people living with HIV (PLWH), positive affect is uniquely associated with lower levels of depression, slower disease progression, better adherence to medication, and higher likelihood of achieving suppressed viral load, independent of negative affect. In two randomized controlled trials with PLWH (R01 MH084723; R01 DA033854), the investigators have shown significant beneficial effects of an intervention that aims to increase positive affect on viral suppression and psychological well bein... Evaluation of the PrevisEA Device for Predicting Gastrointestinal Impairment
Recruiting
PrevisEA is a noninvasive, disposable device that uses audio spectral analysis of sounds produced by the gastrointestinal tract to predict gastrointestinal impairment (GII). GII is most commonly associated with postoperative ileus (POI), but could be the result of other causes, such as early postoperative bowel obstruction. GII is defined as failure of successful early oral re-feeding in a subject undergoing major abdominal surgery. For subjects who are allowed to resume a diet during the first... Read More
