Pilot Testing of a Structural Racism Intervention for Immigrant Latinx Families
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a new, community-based, group intervention called FIESTA (Familias Inmigrantes Empoderándose contra eStrés Tomando Acción) to understand how well it helps Latinx immigrant families deal with the impact of stress due to structural racism. Structural racism is defined as the policies, practices, and norms that work together to limit equal opportunities for minority communities. For Latinx immigrant families, this can include fears of deportation, lack of bi... Read More

Empowering Latinas to Obtain Guideline Concordant Screenings
Recruiting
The design builds on past studies by integrating social network analysis (SNA) and implementation science (IS) into a longitudinal randomized clinical trial (RCT). The investigator will compare the long-term effects of interventions by examining guideline-concordant initial and repeat Brease Cancer (BC) screening.

Grasping Function After Spinal Cord Injury
Recruiting
The overall goals of this proposal are to examine the contribution of physiological pathways to the control of grasping behaviors after cervical SCI, and to maximize the recovery of grasping by using tailored non-invasive brain stimulation and acoustic startle protocols with motor training. The investigators propose to study two basic grasping behaviors, which are largely used in most daily-life activities: a precision grip and a power grip.

Walking Balance Training Post-Stroke
Recruiting
Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability in the United States, affecting \~795,000 people annually. Among ambulatory people with chronic stroke, impaired balance is common and substantially limits mobility (those with the poorest balance walk the least). This project will explore if a novel gait training intervention using a robotic device to amplify a person's self-generated movements can improve walking balance in people with chronic stroke. The development of effective interventions... Read More

Effects of Drugs on Stress Memories
Recruiting
There is evidence that cannabinoids, including delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), reduce responses to acute stress and fear-related stimuli, but few studies have examined the effects of THC on memories of stressful experiences. The researchers hypothesize that THC will attenuate behavioral and physiological responses to negative valence stimuli, including memories of aversive experiences.

FDG-PET-Guided Metastasis Directed Radiation Therapy for the Treatment of Metastatic Hormone Sensitive Prostate Cancer, The PRTY Trial
Recruiting
This phase II trial compares the effect of FDG-positron emission tomography (PET)-guided metastasis directed radiation therapy (MDRT) in combination with standard treatments to standard treatments alone in treating patients with prostate cancer that is sensitive to androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) and has spread from where it first started (primary site) to other places in the body (metastatic). Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among men in the United States, despite... Read More

Comparing Dara-VCD Chemotherapy Plus Stem Cell Transplant to Dara-VCD Chemotherapy Alone for People Who Have Newly Diagnosed AL Amyloidosis
Recruiting
This phase III trial compares the effect of adding a stem cell transplant with melphalan after completing chemotherapy with daratumumab, cyclophosphamide, bortezomib and dexamethasone (Dara-VCD) versus chemotherapy with Dara-VCD alone for treating patients with newly diagnosed amyloid light chain (AL) amyloidosis. Melphalan is a chemotherapy given prior to a stem cell transplant. Giving chemotherapy before a peripheral blood stem cell transplant helps kill cancer cells in the body and helps make... Read More

Carboplatin Chemotherapy Before Surgery for People With High-Risk Prostate Cancer and an Inherited BRCA1 or BRCA2 Gene Mutation
Recruiting
This phase II trial tests how well carboplatin before surgery works in treating patients with high-risk prostate cancer and an inherited BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation. Carboplatin is in a class of medications known as platinum-containing compounds. It works in a way similar to the anticancer drug cisplatin, but may be better tolerated than cisplatin. Carboplatin works by killing, stopping, or slowing the growth of tumor cells. Giving carboplatin before surgery may shrink tumors in patients with h... Read More
