Colorado is currently home to 1784 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Denver, Aurora, Colorado Springs and Englewood. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
A Room Temperature Atomic Magnetrode System for Telemetry of Epileptic Seizures
Recruiting
This study is being done to help scientists learn about the use of a device called an atomic magnetometer. The device uses sensors called optically-pumped magnetometers (OPM) which function at room temperature. This research will compare the non-invasive brain imaging application of the OPM sensors to the present SQUID-based cryogenic sensor technique used in conventional Magnetoencephalography (MEG). This study is being conducted in conjunction with the University of Colorado Boulder's Mechani... Read More

Pulmonary Hypertension Association Registry
Recruiting
The PHA Registry (PHAR) is a national study about people who have pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). PHAR collects information from people with PAH and CTEPH who are cared for in participating PHA-accredited Pulmonary Hypertension Care Centers throughout the U.S. PHAR will determine how people with PAH and CTEPH are evaluated, tested, and treated, and will observe how well these participants do. The goal is to see if people with PH a... Read More

Responding With Evidence and Access for Childhood Headaches
Recruiting
This comparative effectiveness study will clarify current first-line preventive treatment approaches for use by neurologists, psychologists, and primary care providers in the context of real world care, and will demonstrate the feasibility of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) via telehealth for youth with migraine. The focus is on applying evidence-based care and enhancing access to it. CBT via telehealth while taking a clinically-prescribed, pill-based prevention therapy (amitriptyline) will b... Read More

A Study to Learn About Variant-Adapted COVID-19 RNA Vaccine Candidate(s) in Healthy Children
Recruiting
The purpose of this clinical trial is to learn about the safety, extent of the side effects, and immune responses of the study vaccine (called variant-adapted BNT162b2 RNA-based vaccine) in healthy children. The trial is divided into 5 individual studies or substudies based on age group and prior history of COVID-19 vaccinations. All participants in each of the 5 sub-studies will receive study vaccine as a shot depending on what group they are in. * Substudy A design: Phase 1 includes participa... Read More

Prevention and Treatment of Frostbite Infection With Antimicrobial Pharmacokinetic Analysis
Recruiting
This study will compare the effectiveness of two different treatments for preventing infection from frostbite injuries. These two treatments are A) aloe vera and B) long-acting silver wound dressings. The investigators will also study the safety and effectiveness of Dalbavancin, an FDA approved antibiotic used for treating people who develop frostbite wound infections, as well as evaluate how frostbite damage to individuals' bodies may affect how fast their kidney clear drugs from their systems.

A Long-term, Post-marketing Safety Study of Palynziq in Patients With PKU (PALace)
Recruiting
This is a 10-year multi-center, global, observational study to further characterize the safety profile of pegvaliase, including hypersensitivity reactions, long-term safety and tolerability, and the effectiveness of the additional risk minimization measures (aRMMs) (European Union (EU) only) in subjects receiving pegvaliase for the treatment of PKU. Subjects for whom a clinical decision has been made that they will receive pegvaliase to treat their PKU within 30 days following the date of enroll... Read More

Skeletal Effects of Chronic Night Shift
Recruiting
The specific aim of this observational study is to characterize changes in bone turnover makers (BTMs), bone mineral density (BMD), and bone microarchitecture in a cohort of nurses during their first year of night compared to day shift work. The hypothesis is that night shift nurses will have poorer bone health indices at one year compared to day shift nurses.

Randomized Trial of Fresh Frozen Plasma Versus Albumin in Acute Burn Resuscitation
Recruiting
The investigators propose a prospective randomized trial to study fresh frozen plasma (FFP) versus albumin to determine the optimal colloid in burn resuscitations. This work addresses both FY20 focus areas, prolonged field care (PFC) and en route care, along with mitigating secondary effects of acute intervention, such as prevention of over resuscitation. Future military conflicts anticipate more extensive burn and blast injuries, and delayed evacuation. Therefore, the direct comparison of collo... Read More

Counseling Among Gender Diverse Adolescents Who Use Depot Medroxyprogesterone
Recruiting
Recommendations regarding contraceptive counseling and reproductive health differ amongst transgender and gender diverse (TGD) youth compared to cis-gender youth. Limited existing literature demonstrates the need for contraceptive counseling that moves beyond cis- and heteronormative assumptions that start with pregnancy prevention and address concerns at the intersection of gender identity. The Investigator's qualitative study will focus on creating best practices regarding equitable contracep... Read More

Bright Light Exposure in Critical Ill Patients
Recruiting
1. Elucidate the influence of intense light therapy pretreatment in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. We hypothesize that intense light exposure is associated with the peripheral stabilization of Per2 in human buccal swabs and plasma samples before surgery and with a decrease of Troponin I levels after surgery. In addition, we hypothesize that light therapy leads to Per2 dependent metabolic optimization in the human cardiac tissue. Therefore, a small piece of human heart tissue from the right... Read More
