Healthy Volunteer Study - Case Western Reserve University
Recruiting
This Phase 1 study evaluates whether the administration of an S-nitrosylation (SNO) agent during autologous red blood cell transfusion can improve tissue oxygenation. The study investigates if replenishing S-nitrosylated hemoglobin (SNO-Hb) levels in stored blood enhances its oxygen delivery capacity. Compensation will be provided.

Predicting Future Errors During Skill Performance
Recruiting
Background:
Many tasks people do every day require a series of individual movements. Control over these movements is called motor skills. But even highly skilled people can make mistakes. Researchers have found that they can predict when a person will make a mistake 0.1 second before it happens. Now, they want to find out if they can increase that time up to 1 second-long enough to warn the person and prevent the mistake.
Objective:
To see if motor skill errors can be detected up to 1 second... Read More

Imaging Techniques in MRI
Recruiting
Background:
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans must be performed according to specified sets of parameters that provide optimal images of each organ and each area of the body. These scanning parameters are often specific to the institution or organization at which they are employed, and may also depend on the manufacturer of the MRI scanning equipment. Because MRI scanning equipment is always being updated and upgraded, researchers are interested in developing new and optimized scanning p... Read More

New Heart Imaging Techniques to Evaluate Possible Heart Disease
Recruiting
Background:
- Imaging tests, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), can provide information about heart and blood vessels. The tests let doctors can see the amount of blood vessel narrowing and vessel wall thickness. This information may help diagnose and treat heart disease and other conditions that lead to heart attacks. Better MRI methods are needed to improve heart disease diagnosis, especially by avoiding the use of radiation. Researchers are testing new techniques to improve the qualit... Read More

REcovery From DEXmedetomidine-induced Unconsciousness
Recruiting
This pilot study in healthy volunteers aims to determine if biological sex has an impact on recovery from dexmedetomidine-induced unconsciousness, and if transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with electroencephalography (TMS-EEG) can be used to measure brain complexity during dexmedetomidine sedation without arousing study participants.

Investigating Brain Function in People With and Without Visual Snow Syndrome Using Adaptation to Visual Stimuli
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to learn more about the brain pathways and activity involved in creating Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS). The main questions it aims to answer are:
* Does VSS arise from spontaneous activity in brain pathways?
* Where in the brain does the activity contributing to VSS arise?
* How does brain activity contribute to VSS?
Participants will:
1. Undergo assessments and questionnaires to understand visual and mental symptoms, cognitive, and sensory function.
2. Make visual judg... Read More

Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether brain stimulation technology can help people reach a meditative state quickly and easily without years of meditation training. The researchers want to see if this will help people distance themselves from their thoughts and feeling, and if this will lead to improvements in openness and wellbeing the same way meditation can.
Participants will:
* Complete questionnaires
* Perform a guided meditation task (The Bell Task)
* Wear a high density el... Read More
