Physical Rehabilitation of COVID-19 Survivors by Heat Therapy
Recruiting
Older adults and people with underlying medical conditions are at higher risk for developing serious complications related to SARS-CoV-2 resulting in prolonged sequelae. The goal of this proposal is to compare the benefits of home-based lower limb heat therapy to exercise training on cardio-metabolic function and mobility in older adults during their convalescence from hospitalization due to SARS-CoV-2.

Impact of 'Recovery' Footwear on Lower Extremity Comfort and Biomechanics
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to understand the impact of wearing shoes with a compliant, energy absorbing midsole material, outside of athletic training sessions on the mechanics of movement, performance, and perceived joint pain and stiffness. Advances in material science have led to a wider range of cushioning system material properties and mid and outsole geometries in footwear. While there are many marketing claims about the potential health benefits of this new class of footwear these have not... Read More

Cognition and the Immunology of Postoperative Outcomes
Recruiting
This research will test the hypothesis that immune system disequilibrium / dysfunction explains why preoperative cognitive impairment is a strong predictor of postoperative morbidity in older surgical patients. The investigators propose that cognitive impairment influences surgical morbidity because of underlying immune disequilibrium / dysfunction (risk marker) and that this shapes the immune response to surgery and defines immunological hallmarks of postoperative morbidity (disease marker). Multimodal, Task-Aware Movement Assessment and Control: Clinic to the Home
Recruiting
The investigators seek to construct a novel, multimodal, distributed system that facilitates a new paradigm of home-based medical surveillance and treatment for frail older adults centered on timely diagnosis of movement system impairments and personalized intervention. Measurements from a heterogeneous set of complementary sensors will be combined with clinically-informed and data-learned dynamic models of human motion to enable real-time activity recognition (e.g., sitting, standing, walking)... Phase II Study of Proton Radiation Therapy for Neuroblastoma
Recruiting
This research study is evaluating a therapy called proton beam radiation therapy (PBRT) as a possible treatment for neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma most commonly occurs in and around the adrenal glands, which are located at the top of the kidneys. However, it can also occur in other areas where groups of nerve cells exist, such as other areas of the abdomen, neck and near the spine. Conventional radiation therapy with photons is used as standard treatment for many patients with neuroblastic tumor... Read More
