Bicuspid Aortic Valve Replacement: Evaluation of Transcatheter Versus Surgery-Pilot Trial
Recruiting
The study protocol is a randomized trial of standard of care therapies for severe aortic stenosis (AS) in patients with a bicuspid aortic valve (BAV). Namely, the therapies to which patients will be randomized will be transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) or surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR), in patients deemed clinically suitable for both following heart team review. The purpose of this study is to compare the safety and efficacy of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)... Read More

Pneumatic Compression Vs Blood Flow Restriction for Muscle Recovery
Recruiting
Both BFR and intermittent pneumatic compression are purported to decrease symptoms associated with exercise induced muscle damage (EIMD) that cause delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Blood flow restriction relies on applying pressurized cuffs to the most proximal portion of the limb. Another form of recovery often relied upon is pneumatic compression. The mechanism by which pneumatic compression works is similar to that of a massage, whereby the device progressively increases the pressure on... Read More

Pediatric Positive End Expiratory Pressure (PEEP) Titration Using Electrical Impedence Tomography (EIT)
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to perform a PEEP titration protocol and use EIT to identify the optimal PEEP at which lung overdistention and collapse are most effectively balanced. The primary and secondary aims of the study are as follows: Identify the difference between the optimal PEEP recommended by EIT metrics and the current guideline recommended approach to identifying optimal PEEP in PARDS. There will be a statistically significant difference in the recommended optimal PEEP identif... Read More

BOLD-100 in Combination With FOLFOX for the Treatment of Advanced Solid Tumours
Recruiting
BOLD-100 is an intravenously administered sterile solution containing the ruthenium-based small molecule. BOLD-100 has been shown to preferentially decrease the expression of GRP78 in tumour cells and ER stressed cells when compared to normal cells. BOLD-100 will be combined with cytotoxic FOLFOX chemotherapy in this study, with a dose escalation cohort to ensure tolerability and safety, followed by a cohort expansion phase.

Anticoagulation for New-Onset Post-Operative Atrial Fibrillation After CABG
Recruiting
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness (prevention of thromboembolic events) and safety (major bleeding) of adding oral anticoagulation (OAC) to background antiplatelet therapy in patients who develop new-onset post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF) after isolated coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. All patients with a qualifying POAF event, who decline randomization, will be offered the option of enrollment in a parallel registry that captures their ba... Read More

Polymer Induced Liquid Precursor (PILP) in Adults in With Dentin Caries
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if polymer-induced liquid precursor (PILP) can be used safely to treat dentin caries (cavities) in adults. The main question it aims to answer is: Is PILP (conditioner or liner) safe in adult teeth with dental caries? Researchers will compare PILP to a placebo (a look-alike substance that contains no drug) to see if PILP safely treats cavities in teeth. Participants will: 1) Have PILP or placebo applied to their tooth prior to the placement of a filli... Read More

Optimizing Care for Older Adults Through Thyroid Hormone Deprescribing
Recruiting
The proposed study focuses on testing a novel adapted evidence-based multilevel intervention, Deprescribing Thyroid Hormone In Older Adults (D-THIO), to support thyroid hormone deprescribing (dose de-escalation and/or discontinuation) in older adults with thyroid hormone overtreatment and/or misuse and reduce patient harm. Findings from this study will lay the groundwork for broad implementation of D-THIO and serve as a model for deprescribing inappropriate medications for other endocrine condit... Read More

BSGM to Evaluate Patients With GI Symptoms
Recruiting
The goal of this observational study is to learn about gastric myoelectric activity in children with GI symptoms. The main question it aims to answer is which patterns or signals are associated with GI symptoms as measured by a body surface gastric mapping (BSGM) device. Participants will have their stomach activity recorded for up to 4 hours using the BSGM device and log real-time symptoms. Researchers will compare the recordings of healthy children and children with GI symptoms to define abnor... Read More
