Levothyroxine Supplementation for Heart Transplant Recipients
Recruiting
This will be a prospective, randomized study performed at a single tertiary referral academic medical center (University of California San Francisco, CA), evaluating the survival benefits of levothyroxine compared with no levothyroxine for patients who have undergone heart transplant. It will be double-blinded and placebo-control; participants will be randomized to receive levothyroxine or receive no levothyroxine.

Brief Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia in Veterans With Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
Recruiting
This study will investigate treatments for insomnia in Veterans who have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The purpose of this study is to compare a brief behavioral treatment for insomnia (BBTI) to a treatment that helps promote relaxation (progressive muscle relaxation training or PMRT). The investigators will examine improvements in psychosocial functioning and insomnia severity. The investigators will also examine whether treatment gains last over time and whether suicidal ideation decre... Read More

Dulce Digital 2.0 - Innovative Diabetes Self-Management in the Digital Age
Recruiting
The proposed research, "Dulce Digital 2.0," will evaluate two mHealth adaptions of Project Dulce that are designed to improve digital health literacy, increase underserved individuals' capacity to access and engage with vital digital health information, and in turn, improve clinical and behavioral outcomes in at-risk adults with diabetes. Expanding access to care in populations faced with challenges of low socioeconomic status and health literacy is a step toward reducing health disparities and... Read More

Elbow Artery Embolization for Tennis Elbow
Recruiting
The purpose of this clinical research study is to examine whether embolization treatment of an elbow artery is a safe and effective way to treat elbow pain, specifically pain from tennis elbow. Embozene is a medical device made by Varian marketed in the United States for the treatment of hypervascular tumors and arteriovenous malformations. It consists of thousands of microscopic spheres that are injected into the artery to block the flow of blood to a specific region. One of the causes of pain... Read More

Open-Label, Dose-Escalation With Expansion to Assess the Safety, Tolerability, and PK of TRE-515 in Subjects With Solid Tumors
Recruiting
TRE-515 is a first-in-class small molecule inhibitor of deoxycytidine kinase (dCK) that is being developed for oral administration in patients with solid tumors. In cancer cells, rapid and upregulated DNA replication creates high replication stress, as such, cancer cells are more susceptible than normal cells to perturbations in nucleotide metabolism by DNA-targeting treatments such as TRE-515. The Primary objective is too determine the safety and maximum tolerability of TRE-515 when administer... Read More

Biology and Benefits of Music Play and Stories for Kids/Parents During ALL Treatment
Recruiting
Music therapy has become a standard palliative care service in many pediatric and adult hospitals; however, a majority of music therapy research has focused on the use of music to improve psychosocial dimensions of health, without considering biological dimensions. This study builds on prior work examining the psychosocial mechanisms of action underlying an Active Music Engagement (AME) intervention, designed to help manage emotional distress and improve positive health outcomes in young childre... Study of Anti-CD33 Chimeric Antigen Receptor-Expressing T Cells (CD33CART) in Children and Young Adults With Relapsed/Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Recruiting
This phase 1/2 trial aims to determine the safety and feasibility of antiCD33 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) expressing T cells (CD33CART) in children and adolescents/young adults (AYAs) with relapsed/refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The trial will be done in two phases: Phase 1 will determine the maximum tolerated dose of CD33CART cells using a 3+3 trial design, with dose-escalation for autologous products separated from dose-escalation for an allogeneic arm. Phase 2 is an expansion ph... Read More

Proton Therapy in the Treatment of Liver Metastases
Recruiting
Local control of hepatic metastases appears to be a major determinant of overall survival. However, many patients are not suitable for resection due to medical or surgical reasons. Therefore, there is an important role for a treatment that can provide the equivalent of tumor resection with minimal morbidity. Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) delivers an ablative regimen of highly focused external beam radiotherapy that targets one or more discrete extracranial lesions. Published reports usin... Proton Therapy for Esophageal Cancer
Recruiting
The goal of this phase II study is to investigate the feasibility, toxicity and efficacy of a regimen incorporating a proven systemic regimen, carboplatin /paclitaxel, with conformal proton modality, followed by definitive surgery. In most combined-modality trials to date, chemotherapy regimens have included cisplatin, usually in conjunction with 5-fluorouracil. In designing the regimen, the investigators attempt to improve on the standard cisplatin/5-fluorouracil regimen in several ways. First... Read More
