Social Influences on Sensorimotor Integration of Speech Production and Perception During Early Vocal Learning
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to investigate the role of social factors on speech learning, including production and perception, in infants ranging in age from \~7-18 months. Infants have either typical hearing or sensorineural hearing loss. The main prediction of the study is that social reinforcement will engender improvements in vocal learning above and beyond gains in hearing in infants with hearing loss. As part of this study: * The parent and infant engage in a free play session in the playro... Read More

SCOPE Analytic Treatment Interruption Protocol
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to understand the interaction between HIV and the host at the earliest stages when HIV medications are paused. Volunteers with HIV will interrupt antiretroviral therapy (ART) and then have intensive studies preformed two to three times per week. Most will resume therapy within three weeks, even if the virus does not rebound during this time.

The Use of Lymph Node Biopsies to Support HIV Pathogenesis Studies
Recruiting
HIV medicines have led to dramatic improvements in health. However, there remains a concern for potential drug toxicities, cost of drugs, and need for life-long treatment. In addition, research has found that health is not completely restored in HIV-infected patients, even if they have been taking effective HIV medicines for a long time. This may be due to direct drug-toxicity, continued replication of the virus, and/or inflammation of the body in response to the virus. Therefore, a more complet... Read More

Longitudinal Prospective Study of Neurocognition & Neuroimaging in Primary BT Patients
Recruiting
In this proposal, the investigators introduce a novel, translational study to prospectively examine primary brain tumor patients undergoing fractionated radiation therapy to the brain. Quantitative neuroimaging, radiation dose information, and directed neurocognitive testing will be acquired through this study to improve understanding of cognitive changes associated with radiation dosage to non-targeted tissue, and will provide the basis for evidence-based cognitive- sparing brain radiotherapy.

UCSD Image-Guided Cognitive-Sparing Radiosurgery for Brain Metastases
Recruiting
In this proposal, the investigators introduce advanced diffusion and volumetric imaging techniques along with innovative, automated image parcellation methods to identify critical brain regions, incorporate into cognitive-sparing SRS, and analyze biomarkers of radiation response. This work will advance the investigators' understanding of neurocognitive changes after brain SRS and help create interventions that preserve cognitive-function in brain metastases patients.

Pharmacokinetics Distribution of Raltegravir by PET/MR
Recruiting
This is a single-center drug distribution and pharmacokinetic study of a single microdose of 18F-raltegravir given to 10 HIV-infected subjects who are either taking or not taking a raltegravir-containing ART regimen. After administration of IV 18F-raltegravir, subjects will undergo PET/MRI in order to determine the distribution of radiolabeled drug through the lymphoreticular system and other tissues throughout the entire body.

NIA_Improving Function and Well-being by Improving Patient Memory: Transdiagnostic Sleep and Circadian Treatment
Recruiting
Mental illness is often chronic, severe, and difficult to treat. Though there has been significant progress towards establishing effective and efficient interventions for psychological health problems, many individuals do not gain lasting benefits from these treatments. The Memory Support Intervention (MSI) was developed utilizing existing findings from the cognitive science literature to improve treatment outcomes. In this study, the investigators aim to conduct an open trial that includes indi... Read More
