California is currently home to 5602 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Sacramento. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
UCSD Image-Guided Cognitive-Sparing Radiosurgery for Brain Metastases
Recruiting
In this proposal, the investigators introduce advanced diffusion and volumetric imaging techniques along with innovative, automated image parcellation methods to identify critical brain regions, incorporate into cognitive-sparing SRS, and analyze biomarkers of radiation response. This work will advance the investigators' understanding of neurocognitive changes after brain SRS and help create interventions that preserve cognitive-function in brain metastases patients.

Pharmacokinetics Distribution of Raltegravir by PET/MR
Recruiting
This is a single-center drug distribution and pharmacokinetic study of a single microdose of 18F-raltegravir given to 10 HIV-infected subjects who are either taking or not taking a raltegravir-containing ART regimen. After administration of IV 18F-raltegravir, subjects will undergo PET/MRI in order to determine the distribution of radiolabeled drug through the lymphoreticular system and other tissues throughout the entire body.

NIA_Improving Function and Well-being by Improving Patient Memory: Transdiagnostic Sleep and Circadian Treatment
Recruiting
Mental illness is often chronic, severe, and difficult to treat. Though there has been significant progress towards establishing effective and efficient interventions for psychological health problems, many individuals do not gain lasting benefits from these treatments. The Memory Support Intervention (MSI) was developed utilizing existing findings from the cognitive science literature to improve treatment outcomes. In this study, the investigators aim to conduct an open trial that includes indi... Read More

Development of Effective, Opioid Sparing Techniques for Peri-operative Pain Management of Transgender Patients Undergoing Gender Affirming Surgeries
Recruiting
This study will compare the current standard-of-care pain treatment regimen options that are available to patients who undergo gender-affirming surgery. The purpose of this research is to determine if any of these options are more (versus less) effective than the others to manage surgery related pain, after surgery.

A Dose Escalation Study of Levetiracetam in the Treatment of Neonatal Seizures
Recruiting
The main purpose of this study is to determine the maximum safe tolerated dose of LEV in the treatment of neonatal seizures. Our hypothesis is that optimal dosing of Levetiracetam (LEV) to treat neonatal seizures is significantly greater than 60mg/kg. This study will be an open label dose-escalation, preliminary safety and efficacy study. There will be a randomized control treatment component. Infants recognized as having neonatal seizures or as being at risk of developing seizures will be recru... Read More

Seattle Biopsy Protocol Versus Wide-Area Transepithelial Sampling in Patients With Barrett's Esophagus Undergoing Surveillance
Recruiting
The purpose of this research study is to learn about the best approach to sample patients with known or suspected Barrett's esophagus (BE) by comparing the standard Seattle biopsy protocol to sampling using wide area transepithelial sampling (WATS3D). Barrett's esophagus is a common condition that is used to spot patients at increased risk of developing a type of cancer in the esophagus (swallowing tube) called esophageal adenocarcinoma. The 5-year survival rate is as low as 18% for patients wh... Read More
