California is currently home to 5930 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Sacramento. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
Aneurysm Genetic Risk in Patients With QIB Changes
Recruiting
Intracranial aneurysm rupture is a leading cause of hemorrhagic strokes which carry high mortality and disability rates as well as high healthcare costs. Unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIA) are common in the general population, occurring in 1-2% of individuals. Previous studies have shown that UIA growth and rupture are strongly associated with each other, with growing aneurysms 9-12 times more likely to rupture, and nearly all aneurysms growing prior to rupture. Thanks to advanced medical i... Read More

Anticoagulation Profile in Pregnant Women Treated With Three Times a Day of Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH)
Recruiting
Pregnancy is associated with a increased risk of developing blood clots. There is nearly a 5 times greater risk of developing a blood clot in pregnancy. Lovenox is a medication that helps to prevent the body from developing clots. It is safe to use in pregnancy. Previous studies have demonstrated that despite recommendation of Lovenox, to prevent blood clots, the majority of patient's (70 to 90%) did not receive adequate levels of Lovenox at times throughout the day, which likely increases the r... Study of Dietary Composition in Crohn's Disease
Recruiting
Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) often have narrowed microbial diversity and altered composition and function of the gut microbiome. We anticipate the anti-inflammatory diet, when compared with the usual diet, to produce favorable changes in these multi-omics profiles. These findings will provide insight into the interactions between diet and host biology, while providing clues on the mechanisms of diet therapy's effect and CD pathogenesis.

International Registry for Men With Advanced Prostate Cancer (IRONMAN)
Recruiting
Our intent is to establish the International Registry to Improve Outcomes in Men with Advanced Prostate Cancer (IRONMAN) as a prospective, international cohort of minimum 5,000 men with advanced cancer, including men with mHSPC and M0/M1 CRPC. The goal is to establish a population-based registry and recruit patients across academic and community practices from Australia, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Nigeria, Norway, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingd... Liver Transplantation in Patients With CirrHosis and Severe Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure: iNdications and outComEs
Recruiting
Management of ACLF is mainly supportive. The poor outcomes lead physicians to consider liver transplantation as an option, even if controversial. In sicker recipients, LT results in immediate survival, but poor medium-term survival rates in some studies. The scarcity of deceased donors obliges to maximize LT success. Alternative strategies, as living-donor LT, should be explored. LDLT has impressive results in Eastern centers, but it is restrained in Western countries, due to potential life-thre... Read More

Impact of Meal Timing on Glycemic Profiles in Adolescents With Type 2 Diabetes
Recruiting
Because of its simplicity, TLE may represent a more feasible approach for adolescents than other caloric restriction regimens based on macronutrient composition and kilocalories. Our preliminary data support TLE feasibility, acceptability, and safety in adolescents with obesity, with and without T2D. However, no trial to date has studied the effects of TLE on glycemic control and body composition in adolescents with T2D. Our long-term goal is to determine whether TLE is a beneficial as part of t... Read More

Analgesia-First Sedation in Trauma Patients
Recruiting
The study's aim is to ascertain the best approach for providing sedation and pain management for patients who have sustained trauma and are requiring respiratory support from a mechanical ventilator. The common approach to patients who need mechanical ventilation is to provide continuous drips of sedatives and pain medicine and awaken the patient once a day to check the brain functions. Another approach is to provide pain medicine and reserve sedatives for only a short duration when needed. The... Read More

Integrating Abbott Point-of-Care Technologies and the Community Scientist Model to Support HbA1c Testing Per ADA
Recruiting
In the United States, the growing Hispanic/Latino population is at high risk for type 2 diabetes and associated complications, yet underserved in healthcare and underrepresented in research. The purpose of this Sansum Diabetes Research Institute (SDRI) study is to create an HbA1c testing and support closed-loop system for U.S. Hispanic/Latino families. This loop will integrate Abbott's point-of-care (POC) technology with SDRI's Community Scientist Model to contact, test, intervene, and monitor L... Read More

Blood Glucose Differences Using CGMs Between the Left and Right Arm in Patients With Diabetes
Recruiting
There are multiple CGMs that are FDA approved. However, there are few studies looking at the variability of measurements between the left and right arm, and none looking at this effect in diabetic patients. This study may identify if glucose differences exist in the left and right arm in patients with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes. Furthermore, it may point to future directions for research to standardize methods of glucose measurement such as consistently measuring on only one side of the body.
