California is currently home to 5617 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Sacramento. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
The Efficacy of Systemic Valacyclovir (Valtrex) on Periodontitis
Recruiting
The experiment outlined in this proposal is designed to test the hypothesis that herpesvirus suppression by the systemic anti-herpesvirus valacyclovir (Valtrex) can significantly help to arrest the progressive course of severe marginal periodontitis in adult patients. A prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, clinical trial is employed to test this hypothesis.

A Clinical Trial of KVA12123 Treatment Alone and in Combination With Pembrolizumab In Advanced Solid Tumors (VISTA-101)
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to test the safety and efficacy of KVA12123 alone or combined with pembrolizumab in patients with advanced solid tumors. The main questions this study aims to answer are: 1. What is the safety of KVA12123 when administered alone and in combination with pembrolizumab to advanced cancer patients? 2. What is an appropriate dose of KVA12123 to administer alone and in combination with pembrolizumab to advanced cancer patients in future clinical trials? Participant... Read More

Simple Bone Cysts in Kids
Recruiting
Simple bone cysts (SBCs) are cysts filled with fluid that occur most frequently in the long bones (arms or legs) of children. There are many ways to treat SBCs but it is unclear if one is better than another. The purpose of this research trial is to compare the effectiveness of two common treatments that are used by surgeons today.

Cognition and Motor Learning Post-stroke
Recruiting
This project seeks to determine how post-stroke cognitive impairment moderates motor learning during walking in older adults with chronic stroke and identify brain structural markers that mediate this relationship. The chosen experimental design integrates biomechanical analyses, neuropsychological assessments, and brain imaging techniques to determine the impact of post-stroke cognitive impairment severity on two forms of motor learning (explicit and implicit) and examine the role of the dorsol... Selinexor and Pembrolizumab for the Treatment of Cisplatin-Ineligible or Cisplatin-Refractory Locally Advanced or Metastatic Urothelial Carcinoma
Recruiting
This phase Ib/II trial finds the best dose of selinexor and its effect with pembrolizumab in treating patients with urothelial carcinoma that are not eligible to receive the chemotherapy drug cisplatin, or have been given cisplatin and the cancer has gotten worse. Patients must also have urothelial carcinoma that has spread locally, near where it started (locally advanced), or has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic). Selinexor may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking a protein,... Read More

Canadian-American Spinal Cord Perfusion Pressure and Biomarker Study
Recruiting
This multicenter study will enroll 100 patients with acute traumatic cervical and thoracic SCI who have a lumbar intrathecal catheter inserted within 24 hours of their injury. The lumbar intrathecal catheter will be inserted pre-operatively for the measurement of ITP and the collection of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples. SCPP will be calculated as the difference between MAP and the ITP. There are two important distinct yet related objectives in this prospective interventional study. 1. Deter... Read More

Cellular Aging and Neurobiology of Depression Study
Recruiting
We are conducting an eight week longitudinal study to learn if blood levels of certain naturally occurring compounds and genetic markers differ between patients with depression and healthy adults who are not depressed, and if any such differences relate to memory performance, mood, and neurobiology. We are also interested in how the gut microbiome is affected by antidepressant treatment. We will do this by comparing the unmedicated depressed patients with matched healthy controls at baseline an... Read More

A Diagnostic Study of CD38-Targeted ImmunoPET of Myeloma
Recruiting
Evaluation of myeloma disease burden is currently suboptimal. This limits treatment planning and evaluation of residual disease following treatment. 89Zr-DFO-daratumumab is a novel immunoPET tracer, designed to detect CD38 on myeloma cells and allow visualization of myeloma in a PET scanner. A phase I study of 89Zr-DFO-daratumumab demonstrated safety and successful visualization of myeloma with 89Zr-DFO-daratumumab. This will be a phase II study of 89Zr-DFO-daratumumab to evaluate potential clin... Read More

TRIAD Appendicitis Decision-making Surveys
Recruiting
While appendectomy has been the main treatment of appendicitis for over 100 years, recent European studies found that, at least among highly selected patients, antibiotics alone can be an effective alternative. Surgeons and patients alike have a difficult time deciding if surgery or antibiotics are the best choice to treat appendicitis. The goal of the TRIAD is to evaluate the patients who are a part of the TRIAD implementation program and assess satisfaction and decisional regret for patients w... Read More
