Texas is currently home to 4888 active clinical trials, seeking participants for engagement in research studies. These trials take place at a variety of cities in the state, including Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. Whether you're a healthy volunteer interested in paid medical research or someone seeking trials related to a specific condition, the state offers a diverse array of opportunities in your vicinity.
Guselkumab vs Golimumab in PsA TNF Inadequate Responder Patients
Recruiting
The trial is an open-label randomized study that will examine whether switching to a selective IL23 inhibitor (guselkumab) is more effective than switching to a second TNFi (golimumab) among patients with PsA who have an inadequate response to a TNFi.

Phase III Efficacy and Safety Study of Miconazole Oil for Otomycosis
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to prove the that miconazole oil works well on fungal infections of the ears, by comparing the drug with a placebo. The researcher or the participants will not know if they are getting the drug or the placebo. The researcher will show the participants how to use the drug or placebo. After 14 days of using the drug or placebo, the participants will be examined by the researcher and graded on how well the drug worked on the ear(s) fungal infection. Participants w... Read More

Comparison of Surgery and Medicine on the Impact of Diverticulitis (COSMID) Trial
Recruiting
The COSMID (Comparison of Surgery and Medicine on the Impact of Diverticulitis) trial is a pragmatic, patient-level randomized superiority trial of elective colectomy vs. best medical management for patients with quality of life (QoL) limiting diverticular disease. A parallel observational cohort will include those who are disinclined to have their treatment choice randomized, but are willing to contribute information about their outcomes. The goal of the COSMID trial is to answer the question:... Read More

Genetic Analysis of Pheochromocytomas, Paragangliomas and Associated Conditions
Recruiting
Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas are neural crest-derived tumors of the nervous system that are often inherited and genetically heterogeneous. Genetic screening is recommended for patients and their relatives, and can guide clinical decisions. However, a mutation is not found in all cases. The aims of this proposal are to: 1) to map gene(s) involved in pheochromocytoma, and 2) identify genotype-phenotype correlations in patients with pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma of various genetic origins.

Safety and Feasibility of Umbilical Cord Wharton's Jelly Allograft Injections for Knee Osteoarthritis
Recruiting
This is a Pilot Study which is randomized, prospective, open label, dose escalation, non-controlled evaluating safety and feasibility of intra-articular Wharton's Jelly (WJ) allograft will be evaluated in patients suffering with knee osteoarthritis. The participants will be randomized to one of three dosing treatment arms that will consist of one intra-articular knee injection containing either low dose, medium dose or high dose WJ allograft tissue.

Screening Emotions in Adolescents at the Hospital for mTBI
Recruiting
The goal of this observational study is to develop and validate a clinical tool to predict which adolescents aged 11 to less than 18 years of age with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) are at an increased risk for developing significant new or worsening mental health conditions. The main aims the study wish to answer are: * Does the adolescent have new or worsening depression or anxiety defined as a change from their previous medical history using self-reported questionnaires at either one or... Effectiveness of Small Phlebotomy Tubes in Reducing Blood Transfusions in Adult Medical Intensive Care Unit and Intermediate Care Unit Patients With Anemia
Recruiting
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of small phlebotomy tubes to reduce RBC transfusions in medical intensive care unit (ICU) and Intermediate care unit (IMU) patients with low hemoglobin compared with standard size tubes, to compare the intervention and the control groups in regards to: ICU length of stay (LOS), ICU mortality, hospital LOS, and hospital mortality and to assess the acceptability of small phlebotomy tubes in adult ICU and IMU patients.

Ridge Preservation With FDBA (Freeze Dried Bone Allograft) Using Dexamethasone vs. Saline
Recruiting
Following the removal of a tooth, a bone graft is often placed in the socket to try to maintain the volume of bone that was there when the tooth was present so that the bone does not "shrink". The bone graft is kept in place with a small piece of material over the top of the tooth socket and with stitches. This procedure is called "Ridge Preservation". Many different materials are used for ridge preservation, including bone allografts (bone grafts derived from a human tissue donor). These bone a... Read More

To Assess the Safety and Efficacy of SP-002 with Vismodegib for the Treatment of Locally Advanced Basal Cell Carcinoma
Recruiting
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the efficacy of using SP-002 in participants with locally advanced Basal cell carcinoma. The main question it aims to answer is what the objective response rate for a basal cell carcinoma tumor is following 1 or 3 cycles of SP-002 treatment given as an add-on to hedgehog pathway inhibitor therapy. Researchers will compare the objective response rate for treated Basal cell carcinoma tumors between 3 treatment Arms. * Arm 1 participants will receive... Read More

Pharmacological Modulation of Brain Oscillations in Memory Processing
Recruiting
The goal of this study is to learn about the effects of scopolamine (an anticholinergic drug) on areas of the brain involved in memory, and changes it may have on brain activity. The investigators will do this by testing epileptic patients who are already undergoing intracranial surgery for seizure monitoring, and measuring the activity from the brain areas being assessed. The main questions it aims to answer are 1) whether scopolamine changes memory activity solely at encoding (the time when t... Read More

Neuroblastoma Maintenance Therapy Trial
Recruiting
Difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) will be used in an open label, single agent, multicenter, study for patients with neuroblastoma in remission. In this study subjects will receive 730 Days of oral difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) at a dose of 750 mg/m2 ± 250 mg/m2 BID (strata 1, 2, 3, and 4) OR 2500 mg/m2 BID (stratum 1B) on each day of study. This study will focus on the use of DFMO in high risk neuroblastoma patients that are in remission as a strategy to prevent recurrence.
