PAINED: Project Addressing INequities in the Emergency Department
Recruiting
Racial and ethnic inequities in health care quality have been described across a broad range of clinical settings, patient populations, and outcomes. Our overarching goal is to eradicate health care inequities through evidence-based interventions. The objectives of this proposal are to develop and test the impact of two interventions on overcoming clinician implicit bias and mitigating inequities in the management of pain among children seeking care in the emergency department for the treatment... Measuring Analgesic Interventions
Recruiting
It is generally recognized that pain assessment and management especially in newborns, children and other nonverbal populations is an unmet need. According to the American Medical Association, "the pediatric population is at risk of inadequate pain management, with age-related factors affecting pain management in children. Children are often given minimal or no analgesia for procedures that would routinely be treated aggressively in adults. Although much is now known about pain management in chi... Read More

Recruiting
This study is being done to find out whether extending sleep for at least an hour per night, seven days a week, predicts a higher tolerance and a higher threshold for pain. This is a 21-day study. Participants will be asked to wear sleep- and heart- monitoring watches. Pressure pain and cold pain will be measured at study visits.

Cannabidiol and Older Adult Cannabis Users
Recruiting
Cannabis use increased 10 fold among adults over the age of 65 between 2014 and 2016 but very little data exists on the extent of their harmful effects on health and behavior. The overarching goal of this project is to test a novel harm reduction strategy in which older individuals who seek to use cannabis for pain, anxiety or mood problems (depression/anxiety) will be randomly assigned to one of three conditions in an 8 week randomized controlled trial: hemp-derived CBD+THC, hemp-derived CBD-TH...
